The story is about an unemployed recent ivy league graduate (played by Scarlett Johansson) who goes to Japan with her husband who works as a free lance photographer. In the hotel she is staying at, she meets a famous actor (played by Bill Murray) who is visiting Japan to shoot a whiskey commercial. The two instantly connects and develops a platonic relationship. They understand each other very well and were able to relate to each other's life situations.
I think the second time I watched the movie I was in a different place in life, feeling incredibly disconnected and lonely and thus could (and still can) really relate to the characters and understand their emotions and struggles.
Also, the movie has some subtle humor in it so it is really worth checking out if you haven't already.
