Lise Watier Gourmand Velours Matte Finish Lipstick in "Cassis": Review and Swatches

Disclaimer: Product featured was provided for review.
For this spring, Lise Watier added a new range Rouge Gourmand Velours matte finish lipsticks ($22 CAD) to its popular Rouge Gourmand Lipstick line. The new line promises to give not only a beautiful velvety finish to the lips but also some intense color and long wear.
I am a huge fan of matte lipsticks because the finish can look either very modern or vintage, depending on how you do the rest of your makeup. I have only tried matte lipsticks from a couple of brands so it's exciting to see Lise Watier come up with a line of its own.

What it is:
-high-coverage lipsticks with a ultra-matte velvety finish
-long lasting formulation contains jojoba, sweet almond oil, and vitamin E that keeps the lips hydrated
-silky texture that applies smoothly

Packaging:
The Lipstick comes in a simple and sleek matte gunmetal gray case with "Lise Watier" etched in shiny silver.

Scent:
The lipstick has a subtle and pleasant floral scent.

Pigmentation & Formulation:
I have here the color "Cassis", which is a gorgeous bold red that leans slightly pink. The pigmentation, as you can see from the swatches below, is just phenomenal. The lipstick has a rather creamy texture for a matte lipstick and it doesn't have that pasty, slightly chalky feel. In addition, the formulation is not drying. It does feel quite hydrating initially but that feeling does go away after a couple of hours.
Also this is definitely a color you'd want to apply with a precise lip brush.

Longevity:
The lipstick is unfortunately not transfer proof so I suggest giving this a good blot after applying the first layer and then apply another layer and follow up with another blot. Because the formulation is quite hydrating, the matte finish never quite sets and I found that it slid around just a bit, smudging around the edges of my mouth after drinking/eating. So in a way, the wear of this lipstick is compromised by the non-drying formula.
Pros:
-beautiful matte finish
-incredible pigmentation
-hydrating formulation

Cons:
-not transfer-proof so it should probably be worn with a good lip liner

Overall:
I think Lise Watier has done any amazing job making the matte lipsticks creamy and hydrating. The application and the finish is really quite beautiful. With that said, the creamier formulation does negatively affect the wear, making the color more prone to transferring and smudging. However, bold colors like "Cassis" are never low-maintenance and I personally don't mind having to check my lipstick in the mirror a few times during the day.

Availability:
Lise Watier is available online and in stores at select Shoppers Drug Mart, London Drugs, The Bay, and Sears.
