For Fall 2016, Dior is revamping its beloved Rouge Dior Lipstick Collection ($43 CAD each)! Including more colors than ever and a sleek redesigned look, the new range is hitting the stores in may. Today I have a few brand new shades to share with you, to see some swatches, click.......

Packaging:
The new, updated Rouge Dior Lipsticks come in a dark blue packaging (versus the old black tubes) with the Christian Dior logo monogrammed on the top of the cap. The main difference I notice is that the inside of the cap is red instead of being the same color as the outside. The actual lipstick bullet is nicely tapered, with the word "Dior" etched across its width.

Formulation:
The new color selection is divided into five color families. There are the "Legendary Reds", "Passionate Corals", "Pretty Pinks", "Natural Nudes, and "Extremes". In terms of the finish, Dior also added a wide selection of mattes. Formulation-wise, the colors vary quite a bit. See below for a breakdown of the four shades I have here.

207 Montaigne Matte: Well, I guess there is a first for everything! Montaigne is an elephant gray matte lipstick specifically designed for creating special lip effects. Dior recommends dabbing it in the center of a red lip or lining the outer portion of the lips and topping it with a shimmery gloss. I am adventurous when it comes to lip colors but I am not that adventurous. So this color is really not my cup of tea, even if it is meant to be paired with other colors. Worn on its own (if you dare), it's very patchy and unflattering. However, I personally don't think many will purchase it solely for the purpose of creating special effects on the lips, given how pricey each Rouge Dior is ($43 CAD).
028 Actrice: This is a super bright coral-orange. The formulation is slick and shiny, almost gloss-like. The pigmentation is sheer but the color is buildable to a plump and juicy finish. I did experience some minor creasing. Up close, I noticed that the pigments settled in the fine lines of my lips.
789 Superstitious Matte: A very eye-catching and bold purple-magenta, Superstitious is a very difficult color to work with. Application-wise, the color is very patchy, immediately clinging to any traces of dryness or fine lines on the lips. The color also slides around the lips very easily so anytime you purse your lips together, the color bunches and further creases. Also, the formulation of this color is particularly "fragile", the bullet broke right off upon application on my lips. I know purple lipsticks are usually a bit challenging but this one was just no-go for me.
047 Miss: A gorgeous cool-tone pink with a hint of iridescent fine-shimmers, Miss is rather sheer but the color is buildable to a more vibrant finish. The texture is very slick and moisturizing but the wear-time is short. Do note that this shade is not the same as the previous "Miss" color released in Spring 2015.
