Jack Black Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer & The Stick Natural Lip Balm Review
A popular skin care line designed specifically for men (but heck, anyone can use them), Jack Black has been on my radar ever since I tried their famous liquid lip balm. For fall 2016, the brand is introducing two new products to their family. One is an oil-free moisturizer that's great for oily/combination skin and the other is a stick version of their best-selling lip balm! To read my review on both, click.......

Jack Black Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer ($39 CAD):
Packaged in a large signature Jack Black blue and black bottle, the Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer is equipped with a convenient nozzle dispenser. You get a whopping 97ml of product in the bottle, which is a lot compared to your usual 30ml or 50ml moisturizer. With a viscous yet lightweight texture, this moisturizer is formulated with niacinamide (a form of vitamin B3), hyaluronic acid, and extracts of white tea, sea kelp, and basil. When I first dispensed the product from the nozzle, my first thought was that this moisturizer was awfully thick. Surprisingly, however, the product blended very nicely, leaving behind a natural matte finish.

The moisturizer isn't the type that feels instantly softening and nourishing on the skin (like most oil/butter-based moisturizers), but it did a very good job at keeping my face hydrated. I have oily skin so anything that's oil-free helps reduce shine and uncontrolled sebum production. The ingredients do contain dimethicone, which is a huge pet peeve of mine since the past couple of years. Because it doesn't get absorbed into the skin, dimethicone simply sits on top of my skin and over time it gets quite icky after mixing with all the sweat, oil, and dirt that collects on my face. With that said, dimethicone is quite lower down on the list of ingredients here so it's really not that noticeable in this moisturizer. Overall, if you have oily or combination skin, this is an excellent oil-free daytime moisturizer that will hydrate and prevent extra shine.

Jack Black The Stick Natural Lip Balm ($10.50 CAD):
Earlier this year I started using the Jack Black squeeze tube lip balms and I literally cannot live without it. It is so nourishing and the hydration it provides lasts for at least ten hours. However, the formulation is slightly messy and it is heavy so when I saw that Jack Black has a new stick lip balm, I literally jumped for joy.
Although formulated quite differently from the original liquid lip balm (no petroleum in this one), The Stick Natural Lip Balm is also highly smoothing and hydrating. The application is easier and more controlled, as with the liquid one I tend to over-apply by accident. In terms of longevity, though, the stick version definitely wears off a bit quicker (four to five hours), making it more necessary to reapply if you have drier lips. With that said, this Jack Black stick lip balm hands down beats out any other stick lip balms I've tried in the past. So if you are looking for a daytime alternative to the original liquid lip balm, The Stick Natural Lip Balm is your choice!
