Clinique | Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly: Review
Back in October, I had the privilege of attending the annual #LDBeauty Event hosted by London Drugs where I had the chance to preview a whole lot of new and upcoming makeup and skincare products available at the London Drugs beauty department. One of the products that truly caught my eyes was the Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly ($36 CAD for 125 ml). Described as an "unbelievably lightweight, oil-free water-jelly that delivers 24-hour hydration repair plus pollution protection", this moisturizer sounds like a dream for my oily skin. I've been using it for a while now so I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the formulation. To read my review, click......

Packaging:
The Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly comes in a clear rectangular plastic bottle equipped with a pump dispenser. I have here the 125 ml bottle; also available are the 50 ml and 15 ml sizes which are packaged in squeeze tubes.

Formulation:
With a viscous but lightweight gel texture, the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly is made of a water and silicone base infused with extracts of cucumber, algae, barley, sunflower seed,  and rice along with some caffeine and hyaluronic acid. Generally speaking, any silicone-containing moisturizers are a big no-no in my book as they usually feel quite heavy and have the tendency to pill and patch under makeup. However, perhaps due to the use of a slightly different form of silicone (Bis-Peg-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane), the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly applies very nicely and sets to a comfortable, breathable finish. I had no problems with makeup application and experienced zero pilling throughout the day.

The finish feels slightly tacky to the touch so I would recommend a light powdering if you aren't going to wear any makeup on top. Otherwise, the moisturizer feels weightless on the skin. In terms of its efficacy, the jelly kept my skin moisturized until the end of the day. However, it's worth noting that I have oily skin and dryness is usually not a concern of mine. I personally would use something a little heavier for the nighttime but this has proven to be a great daytime moisturizer, especially for the use under makeup. I can't say that the moisturizer has reduced sebum production but because the formulation is oil-free, it doesn't add any extra shine or grease. Therefore, if you have oily or combination skin and have been looking for the perfect daytime moisturizer that's lightweight and hydrating, then this is definitely worth checking out!
