Lise Watier | Watier Eau de Parfum: Review
For Fall 2019, Lise Watier has a major fragrance launch in the form of Watier Eau de Parfum ($85 CAD for 50 ml or $115 for 100 ml). Aimed at "capturing the spirit of feminine luxury", the scent is described as a floral chypre that's modern and vibrant. With Canadian actress and Lise Watier ambassador Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse as the face of the fragrance, Watier was introduced to me at this year's London Drugs #LDBeauty Event where I received a personalized version to call my own. I've had plenty of chances to test drive the fragrance since then so I wanted to share with you my thoughts and review today. To read on, click......

The Bottle:
Watier is housed in a thick-walled, rectangular glass bottle topped with a square white wooden cap that's carved with an artsy, textured design. The Watier logo is embossed in an elegant font and while every element of the bottle feels minimalist and low-key, there's something about the design that's elegant and timeless. As you can see above, the bottle I have is personalized with my name carved onto the cap. I really wish that Lise Watier would make this a complimentary service on their website as it makes the bottle even more special.

The Scent:
Opening with a sharp and refreshing combination of citrus, plum, and pink pepper, Watier is described as a floral chypre scent. Chypre is a fragrance category characterized by a citrus top note, a leathery resin heart note, and a mossy-animalistic base note. Watier captures this with its top notes of bergamot, blood orange, and base notes of musk, amber, and patchouli. What makes it floral, however, is the addition of night-blooming jasmine, leather, and Turkish rose.

Top Notes: Mirabelle Plum, Bergamot, Blood Orange, Pink Pepper
Heart Notes: Night-Blooming Jasmine, Leather, Turkish Rose
Base Notes: Musk, Patchouli, Bourbon Vanilla, Sandalwood, Amber

Lise Watier | Watier Eau de Parfum
After application, the top notes mellow to give way to the feminine florals, which are well balanced with the warmth of leather, vanilla, and amber. I find Watier to be a rather soft and delicate fragrance. The sillage is comparatively weak so it's a scent that you have to experience up close. After settling on the skin, the scent develops a kind of warm and soapy quality that's rather comforting. Having tried so many fragrances over the years, it's rare to find one that stands out above the rest but Watier definitely speaks to me on a personal level. While none of the ingredients are super unique, it's the combination that makes it noteworthy. If you are a fan of soft, warm florals with a citrus twist, then you will love Watier. With that said, this is a fragrance that needs to be experienced in person to fully appreciate so definitely give it a sniff the next time you are in stores.
