Biotherm Life Plankton Essence Fundamental Skin Treatment: Review

Disclaimer: Product featured was provided for review.
Earlier in the month, I attended the unveiling event of the Biotherm Life Plankton Essence in Vancouver and have been testing the product since then. This new skin treatment is the accumulation of decades of research at Biotherm and contains the highest concentration (5%) of thermal plankton extracts found in any skincare products. I have been using the essence every night for a couple of weeks now and today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the product, to read more, click.......
What it is:
-A skin treatment with a 5% Life Plankton extract content
-Life Plankton extract have shown to alleviate atopic dermatitis; on healthy skin, the product improves texture, hydration, reduces fine lines, uneven skin tone, and adds radiance
-Has a water-serum consistency that can absorbs in seconds and leaves behind no sticky residue

The Life Plankton Essence comes in a beautiful tear-drop shaped glass bottle with a shiny silver cap, the design is very modern and fancy, it almost looks like a perfume bottle. The bottle has a blue tinted ombre design that deepens near the base. The opening of the bottle has a small spout that allows you to shake out the essence.

To use:
As advised from Biotherm Canada's lead product trainer Frances, the Life Plankton Essence can be used after applying the toner but before the serum. Alternatively, the essence can be used in place of a toner and serum, right after cleansing the face. It should be followed up with a moisturizer.
Be sure to shake the bottle well before each use as the formulation does settle a bit.

Both my mom and I have been using the essence for the past couple of weeks and we both really love the product. The essence has a very thin consistency (slightly thicker than a toner) but it absorbs very quickly on the skin, there isn't really a particular scent to the product, it perhaps has a mild floral scent.
Immediately after application the skin feels incredibly hydrated and the essence has a mild cooling property that's very relaxing and comforting. I have been using the Biotherm Aquasource Deep Serum and Aquasource Gel Moisturizer following the essence every night and I have noticed that my skin appears more radiant and hydrated after a couple days of use and the patchiness around my jawline (caused by the Proactive Acne Treatment that I sometimes use to combat acne) has disappeared completely. Most of all though, I think the product has made my skin more hydrated and healthier looking.

So what do you think? Do you think this is a product you would add into your skincare routine? Let me know in the comments below and feel free to post any questions you have about the product and I'll try my best to answer them!

The Life Plankton Essence from Biotherm will be available exclusively at Sephora starting July 2014.
