Lancome La Nuit Tresor L'Eau de Parfum: Review

Disclaimer: Product featured was provided for review.
Earlier this year, Lancome added a new scent to the Tresor family called La Nuit Tresor ($95 CAD for 50 ml). A seductive and bewitching fragrance housed in a multi-faceted diamond rose bottle, this fragrance boasts notes of black rose, vanilla orchid, incense, patchouli, and lychee praline. Packaging:
La Nuit Tresor comes in a gorgeous multi-faceted diamond-shaped bottle. The rim of the glass is tinted black to represent the black rose element of the scent. The perfume itself is tinted a warm shade of pink, which contrasts nicely with the black. Tied around the neck of the bottle is a ribbon made into a rose bearing the La Nuit Tresor logo. The bottle cannot stand upright so it needs to be rested on its side.
The Scent:
Upon first whiff, La Nuit Tresor smelled very familiar and after another long, deep whiff, I realized that this fragrance smells like Thierry Mugler's Angel! If you read my Angel review then you would know that Angel is one of the few scents I've tried that actually gave me a nauseating headache. However, although La Nuit Tresor bears very similar notes as Angel (praline/candy notes, patchouli, vanilla and etc.), it is a much more demure version of Angel, thus making it a lot more pleasant.

Top Note: Pear
Heart Notes: Vanilla orchid, black rose
Base Notes: Patchouli, incense, vanilla, praline, papyrus

The pear is present for a few seconds upon the first spritz and it quickly gets enveloped with the candy sweet praline and the ever so earthy patchouli. The rose and orchid floral notes are pleasant but to my nose they are almost completely masked by the praline and patchouli. The overall vibe I get from La Nuit Tresor is sweet and patchouli. It's not my favorite combination as I admit that I have been scarred by Angel, but I think this is a great scent if you really enjoy a candied earth combo that's subtle and intoxicating without being overwhelming.
