Dior Fall 2015 Dior Addict Fluid Shadow: Review and Swatches
In the last year or so, there has been a big emergence of liquid eyeshadows, starting from the Armani Eye Tints and ranging to the YSL Full Metal Shadows. So far I haven't fallen head-over-heels with the trend but that may all change with the new Dior Addict Fluid Shadows ($36 CAD each), a six-shade shimmery metallic shadow range that promises intense pigmentation and smooth application. Packaging:
The Dior Addict Fluid Shadows come in tubes similar to the Dior Addict lip gloss tubes. The body of the tube is clear to show the shadow colors and the caps all have a silver knob bearing the "CD" logo. The applicator is a small brush which actually allows the fluid eyeshadows to be applied as a liner if so desired.
Update: There is a small but annoying issue with the packaging. Unless you pull out the brush applicator very, very slowly, droplets of the shadow will splatter out which gets very messy.

Formulation:
These Dior Addict Fluid Shadows feature an incredibly pigmented formulation. One stroke gives an intense, opaque coverage and the liquid base dries very quickly. The wear is fairly smudge-proof, but unfortunately it is not at all waterproof.
Compared to the other high-end liquid shadows we've seen on the market so far, these are definitely far superior in terms of pigmentation!

275 Cosmic: Warm purple with iridescent, blue, purple, and burgundy shimmers.
875 Destinee: Metallic burgundy. I noticed a bit of staining with this shade. It leaves behind a slight red tint, it's very subtle but still noticeable if you look hard enough.
825 Aurora: Pale peach champagne shimmer.
655 Univers: Metallic sienna gold.
545 Phenix: Shimmery pale champagne gold.

Update: After playing with these shadows on my lids, I've discovered some huge flaws with the application. The liquid formulation does not adhere to the lids at all, if you are applying the product with your fingers, 99% of it will end up on your fingertips.
If you use the brush applicator the colors came with, you will not be able to blend out any harsh lines so in the end you end up with a large blob of color. The only way I can make these look nice is using them as a liner, but as I've mentioned before, the non-waterproof formulation makes that very impractical. Perhaps a nice shadow base can improve the application but I don't really primers for eyeshadows. Additionally, these shadows feel a bit crusty and heavy on the lids when it dries.

Update 2.0: Eugenia from Ommorphia recommends applying these with a flat synthetic brush. I've tried it and it definitely works better than using the fingertips or the included brush. However, the application is still very tricky, I still get patchiness and harsh lines.

Overall:
I really enjoy the ultra pigmented formulation and the rich and blendable texture of these shadows. The only criticism I have is that I wish these were more water-resistant. However, in comparison to the other liquid eyeshadows we've seen thus far, these are the best in terms of color choice and pigmentation.

Update: Application has been a huge issue with these. Thus far I have not found a way of applying these and making them look nice on the lids (see above for details). Let me know if you've found a good way to apply and blend these colors, please share with me in the comments below!
