Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in "Bacca": Review and Swatches

For Spring 2016, Stila released six new shades of its beloved Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks ($31 CAD). I've previously swatched up Baci, a pale nude, and Ricco, a super dark brown red in my Eternal Love Liquid Lipstick Holiday Set review and I am back today with another shade called "Bacca". Packaging:
The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks come in a simple lip gloss tube. The caps used to be black and now they all have a pale gold finish. The doe-foot applicator is fairly flattened. I am not a fan of the design because it actually holds onto too much product. Additionally, if you want a really precise application, it's best to use a lip brush, especially with dark shades like "Bacca".

Formulation:
"Bacca" (which means berry in Italian) is a very deep reddish raspberry pink. The formulation has a fairly creamy texture; this shade had some visible chunks in the formulation but they blended out with no problem. This color applied nicely but the coverage is not very even. Because the formulation sets so quickly (faster than the other shades I've shade), it was actually a bit tricky to perfectly smooth out the color.

I've tried quite a few shades of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks before and this is definitely one of the harder ones to work with. With one coat, which is what I did for the swatches below, I definitely ended up with some subtle patchiness. However, if I go in with a second coat, the color gets super deep and the texture starts to cake and stiffen on the lips. Additionally, it's super important not to let your upper and lower lips touch before the formulation sets. Because if they do, you will end up with even more patchiness.
The wear is very good, once the color sets it won't budge or smudge unless you end up eating a lot of greasy foods.
Overall I love this color and I generally really enjoy the Stila Liquid Lipsticks but I found the application of "Bacca" too patchy and tricky.

Stila is available online and in stores at Sephora, Shoppers, and Murale.
