MAC Selena Lipsticks in "Dreaming of You" & Como La Flor": Review and Swatches

For Fall 2016, MAC has an amazing color makeup collection inspired by Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla. Curated by Selena's sister's Suzette, the MAC Selena Collection has a trio of beautiful lip colors ($22.20 CAD) and today I have some swatches of the two reds for you. To read on, click.......

MAC Selena Lipsticks

Packaging:
The MAC Selena lipsticks come in beautiful soft purple matte tubes. The base of the tube has "Selena" embossed in a shimmery print. I really love that they went with a special-edition packaging; fans of Selena would definitely appreciate the customized touch.

Formulation:
Dreaming of You (Matte): A deep wine red, this is a gorgeous lipstick with a silky and lightweight formulation. With more of a soft satin finish, Dreaming of You feels very moisturizing and comfortable. The pigmentation is fantastic as well, the color builds to a completely matte coverage with just a couple of swipes.
Como La Flor (Amplified): This is a semi-sheer bright cherry red with subtle sparkles. The formulation is not super pigmented but it is very buildable to a mostly opaque finish. The color is very moisturizing, almost gel-like and it has a beautiful sheen. The wear is definitely not as good as Dreaming of You but the color leaves a nice soft stain on the lips.

Overall, these two colors are really wonderful both in terms of pigmentation and texture. I would recommend Dreaming of You for those looking for something a little vampier and Como La Flor for those that prefer a brighter, fresher pop of color.
