Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Color in "142 Creatif" & "150 Luxuriant": Review and Swatches

Disclaimer: The products featured were provided for review.
For Fall 2016, Chanel is expanding its Rouge Allure range with the new Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colors ($43 CAD). I love matte lip colors and am always on the look out for the next long-wearing and pigmented liquid lipsticks so I was quite excited to try these. Packaging:
The Chanel Rouge Allure Inks come in beautiful frosted lip gloss tubes made of glass. Leave it to Chanel to make the typical lip gloss packaging luxurious... The shiny black cap has a beautiful decorative gold inset etched with the Chanel logo, very much like the Rouge Allure lipsticks. The doe-foot applicator is flattened like a paddle, which helps the color go on smoothly.

Formulation:
With a light cream formulation, the Chanel Rouge Allure Inks apply smoothly across the lips. The finish is quite satiny at first (like the swatches below) but it slowly sets to a more velvety finish. However, this isn't the type of liquid lipstick that sets to a completely transfer-proof finish. The product retains some moisture and but it does smudge and transfer with eating and drinking. I noticed that sometimes when I purse my lips together or drink from a cup, tiny patches of the color will actually transfer clean off of my lips. It's not a noticeable transfer but it definitely disrupts the smooth finish of the colors. So in terms of wear, these aren't as I'd hoped.

142 Creatif: A soft coral pink, Creatif is a tad sheer so I needed several layers to build a nice finish. The formulation definitely clings to dry patches so I would recommend prepping your lips well before application.
150 Luxuriant: This is a beautiful pink-red. The pigmentation on this is fabulous (much better than Creatif). I can see this becoming a quick bestseller from the range simply given how glam yet wearable it is.

Overall, these aren't hits for me. When it comes to matte lip colors, I can forgo a mega-matte finish as long as the wear is comfortable but with these, the transferring is an issue. While the formulation is not drying, ending up with a patchy finish just doesn't jive with my lifestyle. If you have time for touch-ups during the day and don't might a little maintenance work to keep these looking perfect, then do check them out as the range has some really stunning colors.
