Edens Garden | *NEW* Essential Oil Synergy Blends & Essential Oil Candles: Review

Disclaimer: The products featured were provided for review.
Home fragrances are something I like to indulge in year round but something about the winter months makes me want to have my diffuser running or a candle burning around the clock. Recently, California-based essential oil company Edens Garden released a brand new Essential Oil Candle collection, in addition to an expansion of their already impressive Essential Oil Synergy Blends. I've got details and reviews of all the new releases to share with you. To read on, click......

Edens Garden | Essential Oil Candles ($32.84 CAD each):
Available in six signature scents, the new Essential Oil Candles from Edens Garden is made with 100% essential oil blends infused in a coconut wax base. Each candle is hand-poured in a simple, reusable frosted glass jar. I think presentation is very important when it comes to candles and although I'm not always expecting some over-the-top, decorative design, the Edens Garden packaging does feel a bit plain. There is an inconspicuous label near the base bearing a simple pattern and the name of the scent but I wish the jar had a nice printed design or a larger wrap-around sticker.

The candles burn with a non-toxic ribbon wick, something I've never seen before. It provides a wider flame and gives off virtually no smoke, which is excellent. However, tunneling was a huge issue with these candles. I can't quite pinpoint whether its the wick or the wax that's the problem but without a tin foil tent, the candle would have tunneled all the way to the base with a good half inch of wax remaining around the centre. With that said, these candles do provide a pleasant and potent fragrance that's superior to artificially-scented candles. One of Edens Garden's classic scents, "Lavender Magnolia" is a calming, alluring floral while "Cinnamon Sweet Orange" is a warm and spicy citrus that's perfect for the holidays. Lastly, "Tobacco Patchouli" is an intense scent with strong notes of musk and oak. Unfortunately, I found this one just a bit too pungent and smokey but judging by the reviews for the Tobacco Patchouli Synergy Blend (which the candle contains), the scent has its audience.

Edens Garden | *NEW* Essential Oil Synergy Blends:
In addition to the Essential Oil Candles, Edens Garden has recently released 20 brand new essential oil blends containing only 100% pure essential oil. Each blend is available in two sizes (5 ml and 10 ml). I've only had the chance to try a handful of them so far but will update this post with my thoughts and feedback for each as I work through the lineup. See below for a little information on 15 of the new scents.
  • Cocoa Rose ($32.84 CAD for 10 ml): With Peru balsam, copaiba (a type of tree resin), rose, linaloe wood, cocoa CO2, jasmine, and vanilla, this is a rather muted chocolate scent. I can detect a subtle floral undertone but the rose is not very distinct.
  • Tangerine Jasmine ($24.94 CAD for 10 ml): This is a citrus floral containing tangerine, lavender, sweet orange, litsea, copaiba, vetiver, clove bud, lemon, amyris, lime, ylang ylang, patchouli, clementine, jasmine, geranium, magnolia, damiana, and rose. The scent has a nice balance of floral and citrus. It's not super unique but a great staple.
  • Marigold Myrrh ($24.94 CAD for 10 ml): With essential oils with myrrh, sweet orange, copaiba, lime, clove bud, ylang ylang, lemongrass, cistus, magnolia, marigold, and frankincense, this scent is a rich and alluring floral that makes my room feel super cozy. If you like a sweet floral with a soft hint of citrus, then this one is a must-try!
  • Mandarine Lemon ($14.41 CAD for 10 ml): This is a bubbly citrus scent made with lemon, lime, mandarin, sweet orange, grapefruit, douglas fir, key lime, geranium, litsea, lavender, damiana, vetiver, and vanilla. I've not yet tried this one.
  • Geranium Juniper Berry ($17.94 CAD for 10 ml): Containing juniper berry, sweet orange, cedarwood, cypress, silver fir, vetiver, geranium, Australian mint bush balm, black pepper, and peppermint, this scent is a rather generic albeit pleasant citrus floral to my nose. I'm not sure what juniper berry smells like but I'm not able to detect anything distinct from this fragrance that would lead me to think "oh, so that's juniper berry"!
  • Grapefruit Peppercorn ($15.73 CAD for 10 ml): This is described as a spicy citrus made with grapefruit, pink pepper, lavender, lime, cedarwood, sweet orange, sandalwood, spearmint, geranium, black pepper, osmanthus, and vanilla. I've not yet tried this one.

  • Eucalyptus Cardamom ($15.73 CAD for 10 ml): This is described as a refreshing, minty fragrance made with eucalyptus, peppermint, cardamom, laurel, tea tree, lemon, ravintsara, ravensara, and allspice. I've not yet tried this one.
  • Frankincense Lime ($19.67 CAD for 10 ml): This is described as a wild and woodsy scent made with frankincense, silver fir, lime, lemon, key lime, sweet marjoram, roman chamomile, vetiver, damiana, spruce, ginger, spearmint, and vanilla. I've not yet tried this one.
  • Yuzu Cannabliss ($28.89 CAD for 10 ml): Made with grapefruit, orange, hemp, yuzu, and sandalwood, this is a very mild and soothing citrus fragrance. In case you are wondering, Yuzu Cannabliss smells nothing like marijuana. In fact, the hemp provides a pleasant musky undertone that nicely balances the sharper citrus notes.
  • Bergamot Key Lime ($14.41 CAD for 10 ml): Described as a "pick-me-up in a bottle", Bergamot Key Lime contains ket lime, lime, lemon, bergamot, sweet orange, lavender, frankincense, cedarwood, spearmint, vetiver, and osmanthus. I've not yet tried this one.
  • Cedarwood Spruce ($14.41 CAD for 10 ml): This blend contains cedarwood, silver fir, spruce, pine, sweet orange, and douglas fir. I've not yet tried this one.

  • Lavender Magnolia ($23.62 CAD for 10 ml): The signature scent of various Edens Garden products (Natural Bar Soap, Natural Perfume, Body Oil, Essential Oil Candle, etc.), Lavender Magnolia is a lovely floral made with lavender, magnolia, bergamot, and lemon. For anyone new to Edens Garden Synergy Blends, this is a great one to start with!
  • Chamomile Lavender ($23.62 CAD for 10 ml): The perfect scent to diffuse right before bed, Chamomile Lavender is a calming sweet floral made with lavender, chamomile (both German and Roman), ylang ylang, sweet marjoram, vetiver, sandalwood, greek lavender, and vanilla. The scent reminds me quite a bit of Edens Garden "Good Night", another lovely, slumber time blend.
  • Lemongrass Ylang Ylang ($15.73 CAD for 10 ml): Perhaps my favorite so far, this is a beautiful warm floral balanced with a refreshing splash of lemongrass. The blend contains lemongrass, ylang ylang, sweet orange, and magnolia.
  • Lavender Sage ($20.99 CAD for 10 ml): Described as a soothing and calming scent, Lavender Sage is a blend of sage, lavender, sweet marjoram, French lavender, grapefruit, damiana, cistus, and osmanthus. I've not yet tried this one.
  • Vanilla Sandalwood ($59.16 CAD for 10 ml): Another signature Edens Garden scent found in many of their other products, Vanilla Sandalwood is a beautiful sweet vanilla with a sophisticated hint of sandalwood. The blend contains myrrh, sandalwood, vanilla, and Hawaiian sandalwood. Although it smells just wonderful on its own, this blend also works really well when paired with other blends as it provides a rich, nuanced base that balances any light citrus or floral scents.
