When I think of Herbivore, it's the brand's face oils that first come to mind. Beautifully packaged in elegant, minimalist glass bottles, the Herbivore face oils are among some of the brand's most luxurious creations. Made with nourishing botanical oils and free of silicones, fillers, and fragrances, the collection of face oils has something to offer everyone. Although face oils aren't as talked about as they were two or three years ago, they are seeing a resurgence given the growing trend of gua sha and face rollers. | Herbivore | Orchid Face Oil, Lapis Face Oil, Phoenix Face Oil & Emerald Face Oil |
Formulated with nourishing coconut oil and antioxidant orchid extract, the Orchid Antioxidant Beauty Face Oil from Herbivore is designed to boost elasticity and radiance for normal and combination skin. Also containing camellia, jojoba, and jasmine, the Orchid Face Oil has a light, runny consistency that works well alone or mixed with a serum or moisturizer. There is a very subtle floral scent, which really enhances the application experience. As expected, the oil leaves behind a greasy finish so I personally wouldn't use it during the daytime. However, the formulation is very nourishing, making my skin look plump and restored in the morning.

| Herbivore | Orchid Antioxidant Beauty Face Oil & Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil |
Designed for normal, dry, and combination skin, the Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil is formulated with hemp seed oil packed with moisturizing omega fatty acids. Also containing olive-derived squalane, meadowfoam seed oil, borage seed oil, and a plethora of botanical extracts (ex. ashwagandha, shiitake, eggplant), the Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil has a soft green tint and a slightly viscous consistency. The formulation feels instantly soothing and deeply moisturizing. Because the oil is quite rich, a little goes a long way. Again, this is a product that I personally would only use for the night time but you can probably incorporate it into your morning routine by adding just a drop to your daytime moisturizer. Overall, this is such a wonderful and luxurious face oil. If you struggle with dry skin or just want something extra nourishing, definitely give it a go! It's worth noting that while the Emerald Face Oil costs the least out of the four oils, it actually only comes in a 30 ml bottle, making the cost per ml closer to that of the Phoenix Face Oil (see below).

A face oil specifically designed for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin, the Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil is formulated with nourishing squalane and jojoba, along with soothing blue tansy and balancing kukui nut oil. Herbivore claims that all their face oils are non-comedogenic, which means that they should lock in moisture without clogging any pores. With a bright blue tint, the Lapis Face Oil has a refreshing herbal scent and the consistency is very thin and runny. I find that I have to be quite careful with the application around my eye area as the oil will migrate and get into the eyes. It sounds counterintuitive but despite having the lightest consistency, the Lapis Face Oil actually feels "greasier" than the other oils because it leaves behind a very palpable slippery residue. Therefore, I would not recommend using this oil in the daytime, especially if you plan on wearing makeup. Overall, despite having oily/combination skin, I don't actually love the Lapis Face Oil due to its consistency. I can see myself mixing it with my regular moisturizer but I would not wear it on its own.

The priciest of the bunch, the Phoenix Rosehip Anti-Aging Face Oil is a luxurious facial oil designed for dry, aging skin exhibiting fine lines and loss of elasticity. Made with nourishing jojoba, rosehip, sea buckthorn, and antioxidant CoQ10 (ubiquinone), the Phoenix Face Oil has a bright orange appearance and a fairly viscous consistency. The oil applies very nicely onto the skin and similar to the Emerald Face Oil, it feels instantly comforting and replenishing. I see the Phoenix Face Oil as an absolute treat for those with dry skin or anyone struggling with dry skin during colder months. Personally, I still prefer the slightly thicker, more serum-like consistency of the Emerald Face Oil but this ranks as a close second.
