When ANUA sent me their Niacinamide 10% + TXA 4% Serum to try, they also included their Zero-Cast Moisturizing Finish Sunscreen (C$23 for 50 ml), which I was especially excited about, as I’m simply obsessed with Korean sunscreens. Featuring a lightweight formulation that promises long-lasting hydration, this sunscreen delivers a seamless, white cast–free finish. To read all about it, click......

With a simple squeeze tube design, the Zero-Cast Moisturizing Finish Sunscreen packaging has a hidden feature on its cap, which has a small divot that when filled completely, holds the amount of sunscreen you need to use to properly cover your entire face. Formulated with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, this is a chemical sunscreen with a lightweight consistency that blends easily onto the skin, leaving a slightly dewy but lightweight finish that feels very much like a light moisturizer.
I was a bit surprised when I first looked at the ingredient list for the ANUA Zero-Cast Moisturizing Finish Sunscreen, as it relies on more traditional chemical sunscreen filters rather than the newer-generation UV filters commonly found in many Korean sunscreens. While I can’t confirm this, I strongly suspect the formulation was developed specifically for the North American market, since all of the UV filters used are approved in both the US and Canada.

I don’t have anything against older-generation chemical filters as they clearly get the job done. However, one of the main reasons I actively seek out Korean and Japanese sunscreens is for their use of more advanced sunscreen technologies. Because of this, the more traditional approach makes this sunscreen feel less exciting to me. That said, the overall formulation and skin feel are still very well done. For those looking for a lightweight chemical sunscreen that wears comfortably and leaves no white cast, this is still a solid option.
