Trader Joe's | Daily Facial Sunscreen: Review

Trader Joe's | Daily Facial Sunscreen: Review
As I live near the US border, I sometimes visit the nearest Trader Joe's to satisfy my snack cravings. Earlier this year, I saw a restock of the famous Daily Facial Sunscreen (US$8.99 for 50 ml), which gained a lot of traction on social media for its reputation as a dupe of the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. I've never tried the Supergoop sunscreen and am generally not a fan of silicone-heavy sunscreens but given the fantastic price, I picked one up anyways. So let's take a closer look...
Trader Joe's | Daily Facial Sunscreen: Review
Trader Joe's | Daily Facial Sunscreen
Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen is housed in a plastic squeeze tube topped with a flip cap. There's nothing fancy with the design but it's practical and travel-friendly. Formulated with chemical sunscreens, this is an oil-free, fragrance-free sunscreen with a gel formulation. The sunscreen also contains nourishing ingredients such as shea and jojoba to keep the skin soft and hydrated. The consistency is fairly thick, almost reminiscent of a silicone primer, but it spreads smoothly on the skin. The formulation sets quickly to a soft, velvety, and shine-free finish. Personally, I don't like how it feels. The sunscreen is lightweight but there's a palpable silicone "slickness" that I don't love. With that said, I've gotten used to it with regular use and I'm glad that I've not experienced any pilling. As the day wears on, however, I do feel a bit greasy. There's no excessive shine but I could feel the sunscreen being diluted with my sebum and sweat, exaggerating that unpleasant sensation.

Overall, however, I really don't mind Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen and have been keeping it in my regular rotation. If you love silicone primers I feel that this could actually be a great addition to your makeup routine as it can be used in place of a primer. Additionally, given the price, it's definitely worth trying, as long as you can find it at your local Trader Joe's as they are frequently sold out.
