Maybelline Color Show Veils & Jewels Nail Polish: Review and Swatches

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish has a new line of glitter toppers for Fall 2014! Inspired by the dazzling array of runway couture fashion of the season, this new line is divided into the "Veils" and the "Jewels". The Color Show Veils offer three refined and shimmery glitter toppers and the Color Show Jewels offer more eye-catching sparkles. To see some swatches and my review, click.......

Color Show Veils Nail Polish in "Rose Mirage":

This one is a simple clear top coat packed with coppery rose gold micro-hexagon glitters. The consistency is really great and I used one coat (two coats for a couple of the nails) for the swatches below. The finish is a bit gritty so a top coat could be used to smooth out the finish.

Color Show Veils Nail Polish in "Amethyst Aura":

A combination of silver shimmers and small blue violet hexagon glitters, Amethyst Aura has the most dimensions out of all five polishes. The formulation is super smooth and it is packed with glitters, I had to use only one coat for the pictures below.

Color Show Veils Nail Polish in "Crystal Disguise":

This one is a gorgeous iridescent blue/green shimmer. I paired it with a black base and it is just mesmerizing to look at, it's like an instant galaxy in a bottle! The formulation is superb and the drying time is great. I used one coat.

Color Show Jewels in "Platinum Adore":
This one a clear top coat suspended with silver bar glitters and large silver hexagons. The distribution of the bar glitter is a bit sparse to my liking and it's virtually impossible to get any of the hexagons to come out of the bottle. I had to use two coats for the swatches below.

Color Show Veils Nail Polish in "Mosaic Prism":
This polish is a multi-colored glitter party filled with large pink, silver, blue, teal, and red hexagon glitters and small silver glitters. The glitter distribution of one, much like that of Platinum Adore, is a bit too sparse for my liking. For my swatches below I had to use two coats and I still didn't get a lot of glitters. I think the base is too runny so the glitters tend to fall off of the brush before coming out of the bottle.

Overall:

The two Color Show Jewels are pretty in the bottle but their formulation is too runny and sparse to my liking. The three Color Show Veils all had great formulation, I particularly like "Amethyst Aura" because I love how much dimension it brings!
