Schick Holiday 2014 Gift Sets: Review
Every holiday season, Schick releases a series Holiday Packs featuring some of its favorite razors at a great price and this year there are three awesome sets to choose from. As you may know, I am pretty big on shaving and although I shave less frequently during the winter time, I always take the opportunity to stock up on value sets that I can use when summer hits. Last year I found a giant Schick Intuition set on sale for less that $8 on Boxing Day that lasted me well into the summer!
The three sets this year includes not only razors and extra cartridges, they also have some great shaving/beauty accessories to go along, to read a bit more about each set, click........

Although this is a set for men, I am definitely keeping it for myself because I love men's razors from Schick. Although they are slightly more expensive, the razor definitely is of a higher quality. The five Ultra Glide Blades with Skin Guard feature of this razor gives a super close shave and I'm way less likely to nick myself when I use these (I can be quite clumsy when I'm in a rush). Also, the razor has a nice weight to it which I really appreciate.

Included in the set is a shaving soap and a shaving brush, I might try the soap on my legs and see what it can do but I think these two add-ons are great for old-fashioned shavers that appreciate the preparation process of shaving. The included three-piece grooming set is also very useful as well. I think the little scissors are great for men who clip their nose hair and it's always nice to have an extra set of nail clippers and tweezers around. The quality of all three is decent, not top-grade but definitely not the super cheap kind you find in some value sets.

Schick Intuition Advanced Moisture Holiday Pack
I've written a review of the Schick Intuition razor before (read it here) and it's still the razor I buy most often because firstly, it's usually the least expensive one compared to the other non-disposable razors from Schick. Secondly, the Moisture Ribbon solid soap bar around the blades make it unnecessary to use any kind of shaving gel. It lathers up and helps the blades glide better and leaves the skin feeling silky soft. The four blade razor obviously isn't as good as the other two shavers but generally speaking this does a great job and you are getting a total of five cartridges in this set, versus three in the other two sets.

Included in this holiday pack is a seven-piece synthetic makeup brush set. I think this is really just an add-on. The quality of the brushes aren't horrible (there was some noticeable shedding with the blush brush) but I think anyone who's semi-serious about makeup probably won't use these. However, if you are gifting this set to teens or makeup novices, these brushes would make a good addition to their growing makeup collection.

Schick Hydro Silk Holiday Pack ($14.99 CAD):
    What it includes:

  • Schick Hydro Silk Razor (includes one cartridge)
  • Two refill cartidges
  • Skintimate Skin Therapy Sensitive Skin Shaving Gel
  • Lavender-scented bath salts
  • Pumice stone and brush tool

  • Schick Holiday 2014 Gift Sets: Review
Much like the Schick Hydro 5 Razor, the Hydro Silk Razor comes with five "curve-sensing" blades. The razor has water-activated moisturizing serum embedded around the blades that help the blades glide and moisturize the skin. The effect of the moisture serum is actually quite noticeable, I think the shaving process really benefits from it. However, because the serum water-activated, it is super important to store this razor in a dry place immediately after using it because otherwise the moisture  in the shower draws out all the serum and makes quite a mess around the blades.

The included extras in this set are the shaving gel, the bath salts, and the pumice stone/brush tool. The shaving gel has this crazy foamy texture which is very cool and it helps moisturize the skin even further. I'm not a big bath girl so the lavender bath salts will probably be passed to be friend but the pumice stone and brush tool I'll be using a lot because I do get a lot of calluses on my feet. So all in all, I love the extras in this set the best.

    Overall:
I'm loving all three sets. The Hydro 5 set is intended for men but I think if you are willing to chip in the extra $2, you will definitely get the best shave with that razor. If you want a set you can get the most use out of, the Schick Intuition one is the best because it includes five cartridges which works out to be $3 per cartridge (if you discount the brush set. In terms of the extra add-ons, the Schick Hydro pack definitely has the best selection.

    Availability:
All three sets are currently available at Shoppers Drug Mart and will be available at Walmart starting this November.
