Guerlain Christmas Color Collection 2014: Review and Swatches
Happy Monday everyone! Today I am bringing to you one of the most luxurious collection from this holiday season. The Christmas Color Collection 2014 from Guerlain features several festive, gold-lacquered makeup pieces. To see the swatches of a few pieces, click......
Guerlain Christmas Color Collection 2014: Review and Swatches
Guerlain Petrouchka Palette
Petrouchka Palette Eye & Blush Palette ($108 CAD):
Packaging:
The palette comes in the most luxurious shiny gold compact with a reusable elastic bow wrapped around it. With two compartments, the palette holds five shadows in the first tier and four blushes in the second. The palette comes equipment with a nice mirror under the lid and it comes with a velvety pouch with two travel-sized brushes.

Formulation & Pigmentation:
The Petrouchka Palette comes with five neutral essentials. The formulation for the shadows are incredibly pigmented and creamy, with the darker shades being extremely opaque. I am not loving the long, thin strip design as it is hard to apply using bigger, fluffier shadow blushes but the colors are too gorgeous for me to dwell on it.
  • Champagne: pale champagne shimmer
  • Sand: pale gold shimmer
  • Gold: rich warm gold metallic
  • Copper: brick brown metallic
  • Iridescent Brown: dark taupe-y brown metallic

Guerlain Petrouchka Palette
The palette holds four different blushes, two shimmers and two mattes. All four blushes are quite small, it's actually a bit tricky to only dip a blush brush into only one color. So despite the incredibly pigmented formulation of all four colors, I would have preferred one or two larger blushes.
  • Nude Pink: Pale pink with silvery pink shimmers
  • Brown: Brownish rose with warm shimmers
  • Rosewood: Matte smokey rose
  • Coral: Bright matte coral

Meteorites Perles d'Etoile
Formulation & Pigmentation:
This Meteorite powder is mostly translucent with soft warm shimmers. The formulation is finely milled and blends beautifully into the skin. The powder works great as a highlighter, either for the face or the body.

Guerlain Maxi Shine Lip Gloss in "Rouge Parade" ($33 CAD):
This is a gorgeous pinkish dark red semi-sheer lip gloss. The formulation is very lightweight and not at all sticky. Although beautiful, this shade is slightly tricky to work. Because it's quite pigmented, I found it hard to apply neatly without uneven pigmentation. It may actually be beneficial to apply this with a lip brush. The gloss lasts nicely, it fades after a couple hours of wear, losing shine but most of the color remains.

Overall:
This is such a gorgeous collection. All three pieces make perfect additions to any makeup routine. My favorite is definitely the palette; the pigmentation and formulation is some of the best I've seen.
