L'Occitane Amande Youthful Body Velvet Balm: Review

Disclaimer: Product featured was provided for review.
For Spring 2015, L'Occitane is adding a few innovative body care products to its Amande line. Made with active ingredients extracted from almond trees, the Amande Youthful Body Velvet Balm ($62 CAD) targets five signs of body aging: dryness, skin slackening, lack of tonicity, fine lines, and skin irregularities. I'm not great at keeping up my body care regime but with such a fancy body "balm", I was ready to see if the product really makes a difference. To read on, click.......
Packaging:
The Amande Youthful Body Velvet Balm comes in a heavy duty glass jar. You can get to the product by scooping it out using your fingers. I don't personally mind the packaging as it has quite a luxurious and classy feel; however, I think a easy squeeze tube would work better for the formulation.

Formulation:
The "almond native cells" used in this body balm has regenerative abilities that aid the renewal of skin cells. The balm has a light pink yogurt-y texture. It's rich but light weight and absorbs quite quickly. The balm can be applied anywhere that needs a little TLC and it has a subtle floral scent. Moisturizing but not sticky, the balm can be paired with the complementary Youthful Body Velvet Serum or just used on its own. L'Occitane suggests that the balm be applied twice a day for optimal result.
Overall I like this as a lightweight body moisturizer, it smells great and feels very calming on the skin. With that said, I'm not sure if it's that revolutionary to warrant such a high price tag; I noticed that my skin looks more hydrated and plump but perhaps someone in their late 40's or onward can see more noticeable differences as the signs of aging of the body becomes more apparent at that age.

Availability:
L'Occitane is available online and in stores at L'Occitane boutiques across Canada.
