Benefit The Porefessional License to Blot Instant Oil-Blotting Stick: Review
If you have oily skin like me, then you know the daily struggles of looking shiny and greasy, especially in the summer months. However, Benefit has recently released an oil blot stick that promises to banish greasy t-zones and oily cheeks. Packaged in a convenient twist-up stick, The Porefessional License to Blot ($24 CAD) is super travel-friendly, perfect for touch-ups on the go. To read my review, click.......

Packaging:
License to Blot comes in a cute, nifty triangular gluestick-like twist-up dispenser. The size of this product is quite small so it takes up less room in your bag than a blotting powder and a brush.

Formulation:
The three main ingredients of License to Blot are caprylic, silicones (dimethicone to be exact), and paraffin. Caprylic is an emollient derived from coconut oil and it's generally harmless. However, the paraffin and silicones are a bit troubling as they have been linked to skin irritations and pore blockage, respectively. I don't usually analyze product ingredients but after reading numerous negative reviews on Sephora, I thought it was worthwhile to do a little googling on the key ingredients. So, if you know you are sensitive to those ingredients, it's probably best to avoid this product.

Benefit The Porefessional License to Blot
I myself, however, didn't experience any sensitivities or break-outs. With a consistency similar to a solid version of the classic Porefessional, License to Blot applies nicely across the skin and it instantly mattifies. I've tried this over moisturizer and moisturizer plus powder foundation and the results both times are pretty good. However, the mattifying effect only lasts about a couple of hours, which is about the same time blotting powders work on me. The only downside is that the product feels a bit heavy, as compared to a blotting powder. Also, I wouldn't recommend applying this under makeup as it will interfere with the application of your foundations.

Overall:
This is a nice alternative to the good old blotting powder when you are on-the-go. It instantly mattifies and doesn't leave behind any noticeable texture. The packaging is super compact, but the product feels heavier than a powder so using it too often throughout the day may create some feelings of cakiness.

Availability:
Benefit is available online and in stores at Sephora.
