Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in "Velvet Underground" & Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in "Pillow Talk": Review and Swatches

As you may have heard, Charlotte Tilbury is now available at the Toronto Holt Renfrew and is coming this month to the Vancouver location. In celebration of the brand's Canadian arrival, I've got another review featuring a couple of lip products. K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in "Velvet Underground"

Packaging:

The K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick comes in a gorgeous shiny rose gold tube. The top of the cap is etched with the Charlotte Tilbury initial and the tube has a really nice weight to it. 

The Lip Cheat is a simple lip pencil. It doesn't have a twist-up mechanism so it needs frequent re-sharpening.

Formulation:

The K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick features a super pigmented, ultra-slick and creamy formulation. One swipe of "Velvet Underground", a bright berry pink, gives an almost completely opaque coverage. The finish has a noticeable sheen and the color feels very hydrating. In terms of wear though, the lipstick fares just okay. Because the color is so slick, it transfers easily.

The Lip Cheat Lip Pencil also has a very pigmented formulation. The texture is reasonably creamy, but it's not the creamiest lip pencil I've tried. Once set, the lip pencil becomes very matte and very drying. I tried wearing this all over the lips. The first layer of application is fine but when I tried to correct certain areas by applying over the first layer, the texture of the lip pencil became very strange. The dryness actually caused the surface of my lips to wrinkle and bunch up! So my verdict is that this lip liner works well when applied in a thin layer and it's not a wear-alone lip color because it's too drying. The shade "Pillow Talk" is a medium beige nude, very Kylie Jenner if you know what I mean.

Overall:

The K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick features a gorgeous creamy formulation. The shade "Velvet Underground" will surely win over any berry lip lovers. The Lip Cheat Pencil I did not enjoy very much. The color is definitely very long-lasting, but the formulation is way too drying to be used alone. Also, you have to be very careful with the application, once the color sets, it's impossible to apply an additional layer without creating a weird texture.
