For Sping 2015, NARS is adding a new line to its foundation family. Oil-free and lightweight, the Velvet Matte Skin Tint ($54 CAD, 12 Shades) promises an effortless application that evens the skin tone and blurs the appearance of pores and fine lines. Packaging:
The Velvet Matte Skin Tint comes in a convenient squeeze tube. I'm really happy that they went with this format instead of a glass pump bottle because the squeeze tube is just super easy to use and much more travel-friendly. The tube holds 50ml of product, so even though the price seems quite steep ($54 CAD), you are getting 20ml more than your average 30ml foundation.

Formulation:
Oil-free and infused with rose fruit extract, the Velvet Matte Skin is made of "transparent blurring powders" designed to smooth out any skin imperfections while creating a natural finish. This BB Cream-esque foundation has a lightweight, airy yet creamy texture; the application is very nice and it does a good job of smoothing over fine lines without clinging too much to dry patches. The coverage is fairly sheer but definitely buildable to a semi-opaque finish. The Velvet Matte Skin Tint almost feels like a cream-to-powder foundation, immediately mattifying the skin.
However, after a couple of hours, I noticed sebum starting to seep through the product (mostly in my T-zone), So in terms of shine-control, this foundation isn't the best I've tried as I've used regular, non-matte foundations that do a better job of delaying shine. The foundation darkened a little bit from oxidation but it wasn't too noticeable.
Overall, this is a semi-sheer foundation with a really lovely and weightless texture. The application is lovely and the packaging is simple and easy-to-use. However, I don't think it's great at controlling shine so if you have oily skin like me, you will still need to blot and powder throughout the day.

Finland-Light 1: NC 15-20 with a neutral undertone.
Alaska-Light 2: NC 25 with a slight warm undertone.
