Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Exceptional Compacted Pearls of Powder: Review and Swatches

Disclaimer: The product featured was provided for review.
For Spring 2016, Guerlain has something incredible in store! With hundreds of hand-made micro pearls (at least ten times smaller than the original Meteorites Pearls) pressed into a beautiful compact, the Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Exceptional Compacted Pearls of Powder ($210 CAD) is hands-down the most luxurious and expensive makeup product I've ever laid eyes on. Packaging:
The Meteorites Voyage comes in a rightfully luxurious compact. The circular compact is shiny and silver and the lid has a shimmery white inset adorned with rolls of raised pearl patterns. The inside is really where the real magic lies; made from hundreds of hand-produced micro powder-pearls pressed into a beautiful, almost impressionist painting pattern, the compact holds a hefty 11 grams of product.
I've always had a penchant for a nice and weighted compacts and the Meteorites Voyage does not disappoint. Something about its heaviness really adds to the luxurious feel; also, the compact has a snazzy magnetic closure that snaps and stays shut.

Formulation:
Like the original Guerlain Meteorites Pearls and Meteorites Compact, the Voyage Exceptional Compacted Pearls of Powder is made of a very finely-milled powder with light hints of green, lavender, pink, and beige. When applied, the powder is mostly translucent, with just a hint of teeny, tiny micro-shimmers. The purpose of the powder is to blur and illuminate the skin. It's not a highlighter so if you are looking for some serious shimmer or sheen, this is not it. Much like the Hourglass Ambient Light powders (and perhaps being even more subtle), the Meteorites Voyage is designed to smooth and bring light to the skin. Truthfully, its effect isn't something people will distinctively pick up on; rather, it gives the complexion a little "je nais ce quoi" quality that many fans swear by.  I would recommend dusting this all over the face after foundation and powder to give the skin a subtle glow. It's worth mentioning that the powder is lightly scented with the classic Guerlain scent, which I find absolutely intoxicating.

Overall, this to me is a collector's item. If you are merely curious about the effects of the Guerlain Meteorites, I recommend trying the pearls or the compacted pearls. With that said, this behemoth of luxury is honestly stunning; if you have the money to spend, this is worth getting (and displaying on your vanity for all your visitors to gawk at).
