New from Yves Saint Laurent comes a new line of luxurious mascaras called the Vinyl Couture Mascara ($38 CAD). Available in nine bold shades ranging from a carbon black to a bright fuchsia, the Vinyl Couture Mascara promises definition, curl, and volume with vinyl-sheen. Packaging:
The Vinyl Couture Mascara comes in a unique see-through tube, much like that of a lip gloss tube. The cap has a shiny silver finish and it's embossed with the iconic YSL logo. The mascara applicator is a full bristle wand; it's larger than your average wand, a little unwieldy, making it difficult to reach all my corner lashes without smudging the product on my lids.

Formulation:
With a pleasant floral scent, the YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara has a semi-wet formulation. The mascara adds both length and volume but I found it just a tad clumpy. Lasting-hold is very important to me as I have naturally straight and downward-facing lashes. Unfortunately, the hold of this mascara is a tad weak. It managed to hold my curls for around half an hour, but after that my lashes started drooping slowly. The wear on this is okay; there was some smudging as the formulation is not waterproof. The removal process is easy though. A simple makeup remover can easily wipe off the product. Overall, I love the beautifully simple yet luxurious packaging and the alluring scent of this mascara; however, the formulation just didn't have enough hold and wear.
