Chanel Fall 2016 Le Rouge N°1 Collection | "268 Candeur et Experience" Les 4 Ombres & Illusion D'Ombres: Review and Swatches

Disclaimer: The products featured were provided for review.
For Fall 2016, Chanel is embracing the color red- not just on the lips, cheeks or nails, but also for the eyes! Offering an array of versatile reds, the Le Rouge N°1 Collection is in stores now. Today I want to share with you a few eyeshadows from the collection. To see some swatches and read my reviews of these products, click.......
Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad in "268 Candeur et Experience" ($68 CAD):
Housed in the classic shiny black compact bearing the iconic Chanel logo, "268 Candeur et Experience" quad features four rich autumn hues. You get a light warm brown, a soft sandy beige, a warm terracotta brown, and a dark warm brown. All four shades are matte, which seems to be the emerging trend in eye colors this season. In terms of the formulation, all four shades are quite silky but the pigmentation is lacking. Both the light warm brown and the terracotta are buildable (for the swatches below I used quite a few swipe) but they still do not provide an intense or even enough pigmentation. The dark brown looks so deliciously rich in the pan but when swatched, it was disappointingly sheer. I would recommend using a very tacky shadow primer or a base cream color when working with this palette.

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in "128 Rouge Brule"
"128 Rouge Brule" Illusion D'Ombre & "132 Rouge Contraste" Illusion D'Ombre Velvet ($41 CAD each):
With a unique souffle-like texture, the Illusion D'Ombre is offered in two gorgeous shades for this Fall. "128 Rouge Brule" is a beautiful golden orange shimmer while "132 Rouge Contraste" is a matte dark chocolate. Both come in luxurious glass jars and equipped with each shade is a small extendable sponge-applicator. The formulation lies somewhere between a cream and a powder. It feels moist upon application and spreads smoothly across the skin yet it immediately sets to a silky powdery finish.
"128 Rouge Brule" swatches very pigmented on the arm but it blends out a bit sheerer on the lids. It doesn't build very much so I think it works better as a base color for a powder eyeshadow. "130 Rouge Contraste", on the other hand, is a tad sheer when swatched but it builds up nicely on the lids.
