Kat Von D is always thinking outside the box and for Spring 2017, she is putting a new spin on the old spring pastels theme. Aptly named the Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette ($51 CAD), this eight-shade matte delight boasts endless possibilities of pretty rainbow creations. To see some swatches and read my review, click......
Packaging:
The Pastel Goth palette comes in a long rectangular cardboard box. The lid bears some very cool and ghoulish lettering and the inside includes a nicely-sized mirror. You get a total of eight shadows, each weighing 1.6g.
Formulation:
Pastels are usually pretty sheer and matte shadows are notoriously difficult to formulate. However, Kat Von D did a wonderful job with these matte pastels. Although the colors are very light, their pigmentation level is pretty impressive. All eight shades have a soft and creamy texture; a few are slightly powdery and fallout-prone but they aren't at all chalky or dry. Overall, this is a lovely palette. I don't love the packaging design but if you enjoy soft rainbow mattes, then I can't think of a better investment! See below for a breakdown of all the shades.
Star: This is a bright yellow. The formulation is slightly patchy but buildable.
Clementine: With a pretty sheer formulation, Clementine is a pastel orange.
Meow: Also on the sheerer side, Meow is a soft lavender.
Dope: This is a unique periwinkle with a very creamy and pigmented formulation.
Doom: This is a pretty and soft sky blue. The formulation is slightly sheer as compared to some of the other shades.
Gloom: One of the most unique shades out of the eight, Gloom is a murky soft green. The formulation is nice and pigmented.
Dagger: Described as a stone gray, Dagger is super smooth and pigmented.
Skull: This is a very pigmented and smooth pure white.
