Dior Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation in "100 Ivory": Review and Swatches
I'm sure you've heard the saying that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. However, can you judge a foundation by its packaging? Well for the longest time, I've sort of overlooked the Dior Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation ($78 CAD) because of its aerosol spray packaging. Although it's gotten some pretty amazing reviews, the product just seemed a little too good to be true so I never bothered giving it a chance. Well, I've been using the foundation for a couple of months now and I have been wowed by it in every way possible. So today, I want to share with you my review and swatches. Is this foundation holy grail-worthy? Yep, and here is why......

Packaging:
The Diorskin Airflash foundation comes in a 70ml, beige-colored aerosol can. The average foundation is 30ml so I assume the larger volume here reflects the butane gas contained in the can, which is in fact the number one listed ingredient.
Because this is a pressurized aerosol can (not a plastic spray bottle), the liquid foundation actually dispenses in a very fine mist. I don't think you can get away with just spraying the product with no blending but the application is even enough that you only have a blend a bit (ex. around the nose and eyes). The big drawback of the packaging is that it's a bit messy. You really do have to protect your hair (I recommend using a wide hair band) or you will end up with beige-colored roots since the formulation is quite pigmented.

Formulation:
To be 100% honest, I was pretty skeptical of the Dior Airflash before trying it out for the first time. As you can imagine, a spray-on foundation sounds almost too good to be true. However, this thing is pretty darn awesome. The aerosol spray provides a surprisingly good application and just a couple of sprays give a medium to full coverage with a natural matte finish. As mentioned, you will need to blend out the product a little bit after spraying, but mostly in those tricky areas like around the crevices of the nose and around the eyes.

Despite being super high-coverage, the Diorskin Airflash is incredibly lightweight. The foundation almost feels like it's pure pigments with no texture or greasiness. You'd think that with such a light and thin formulation, the foundation may accentuate pores or cling to dry patches but it did no such things! Even on my nose, my toughest area to cover due to my enlarged pores, the formulation provides an airbrushed effect.
In terms of wear, the formulation is amazing! With minimal fading or smudging, the foundation lasts all day and it does not make my oily skin look extra shiny, which is a problem I have with most foundations. The only critique I have with the formulation is that there is some oxidation. I have here the shade "100 Ivory", the lightest color available in the range. This color is initially a hair too pale for me but it darkens noticeably by the end of the day. It never gets too dark or too yellow for my skin tone (NC20) but it is something to be aware of.

Personally, this foundation is a holy grail product for me! From the application to the coverage to the wear, the Diorskin Airflash excels in every category! The price tag is quite hefty but I do think it's worth every penny. The shade range is slightly limited in my opinion, given that the color I have here is the lightest of them all, so definitely check these in stores before buying!
