Givenchy Matissime Velvet Radiant Mat Fluid Foundation: Review and Swatches
As someone with constantly oily skin, any foundation promising a velvet matte finish is music to my ears. Recently, Givenchy has made its Matissime Velvet Radiant Mat Fluid Foundation ($65 CAD) available in Canada so today I want to give you a full review of the formulation. To read on, click......

Packaging:
The Matissime Velvet Radiant Mat foundation comes in an elegant 30ml glass bottle adorned with sleek, raised stud designs around the neck. The foundation is equipped with a convenient pump dispenser and the iconic Givenchy logo is engraved on the top of the cap.

Formulation:
Promising a long-lasting, mattifying finish with an SPF 20 coverage, the Matissime Velvet foundation provides a fairly sheer coverage. Infused with extracts of burnet, ginger, and cinnamon, the formulation is designed to reduce the appearance of shine and minimize enlarged pores.
In terms of pigmentation, the foundation is definitely on the sheerer side. It evens the skin tone and conceals minor imperfections but for large blemishes and discolorations, a concealer is definitely needed. The product has a nice matte finish. The formulation is not super smoothing or cushioning but it does look very natural. I tried building to a higher coverage but a thicker application compromises the smooth finish.

In terms of wear, the foundation fared just okay. Although it kept the skin looking relatively matte, there was noticeable fading. Additionally, the foundation clings to dry patches and fine lines- not initially, but after a few hours of wear.
There are a total of eight shades to choose from and I have swatched here the four lighter shades. "01 Mat Porcelain" (also worn shown in face swatch below) is a light ivory. "02 Mat Shell" is a light ivory with a noticeable pink undertone. "03 Mat Sand" is a light peachy ivory and "04 Mat Beige" is a light-medium beige. With all four shades, there is noticeable oxidation immediately after application so definitely choose a shade lighter than your natural skin tone.

Overall, this is a decent foundation. The sheer coverage provides a subtle, radiant glow along with a natural matte finish. Unfortunately, the formulation does accentuate dry patches and fine lines with wear and after four or five hours, there is also some fading. If you have naturally youthful skin with only minor blemishes, then this foundation will work very well. However, if you have dry or combination skin with fine lines or other textural concerns, it's probably best to seek out another foundation from the Givenchy complexion range.
