KORRES | Pomegranate AHAs & Enzymes Resurfacing Mask: Review
To help polish and refine dull winter skin for the upcoming warmer season, KORRES has created a brand new exfoliating face mask equipped with three different resurfacing mechanisms. Harnessing the powers of glycolic acid, pomegranate grains, and lots of other amazing ingredients, the Pomegranate AHAs & Enzymes Resurfacing Mask ($45 CAD) is available now soon at BeautyBoutique.ca and in stores at Shoppers Drug Mart. KORRES | Pomegranate AHAs & Enzymes Resurfacing Mask
Housed in a simple 75ml squeeze tube, the Pomegranate AHAs & Enzymes Resurfacing Mask is an exfoliating facial mask designed to remove dead skin cells and refine the look of pores. With a creamy, gritty texture, the mask works via three different exfoliating mechanisms. The glycolic acid, lactic acid, and pomegranate enzyme help chemically remove dead skin cells while the pomegranate seed powder provides a gentle mechanical exfoliation. Additionally, kaolin clay and white willow extract rich in salicylic acid (a BHA) absorb excess sebum and refine enlarged pores. Lastly, the mask is also formulated with jojoba oil, rice bran oil, witch hazel, and radish root ferment to further nourish and refine the skin.

With a grainy but non-abrasive texture, the face mask is easy to spread and a little goes a long way. The product has a lovely pomegranate scent but it also has a very heavy alcohol smell, due to a considerable amount of denatured alcohol used in the ingredients (it is the third on the list). I'm honestly not a fan of drying alcohols in skin care but this mask contains enough good stuff that I can overlook it. After leaving the mask on for around five minutes, the formulation will set but not completely dry. To remove, wet your hands and gently massage the mask off of the skin. The pomegranate seed powder creates a nice, scrubby lather while providing some gentle mechanical exfoliation. After removal, my skin feels and looks super refined and smooth. There's no redness or stinging sensation but there is a visible result. Overall, this is an awesome multi-action exfoliating mask. The concept is similar to the Pixi Peel & Polish (reviewed here) but the KORRES formulation is definitely superior. I can certainly do without the denatured alcohol in the formulation but the creamy, gritty texture is so potent yet gentle.
