For 2019, Essie wants you to unplug and power off with the new Serene Slate Collection. Inspired by a zen lifestyle free from the stresses of social media and endless screen time, the collection offers a gorgeous range of muted nudes and inky grays. Mind-Full Meditation:
This is a muted taupe beige with a subtle hint of pink. The formulation is super pigmented but just a tad thick. With a skillful application, you can definitely get away with just two coats but I needed three on a couple nails to smooth away some jagged streaks.

Serene Slate:
A simple stone gray, Serene Slate is nicely pigmented and easy to apply. I used two coats for the swatches below.

Toned Down:
My favorite out of the six, Toned Down is a blue-based pebble gray. Similar to Serene Slate, the formulation is perfectly pigmented and easy to work with.

On Mute:
This is a deep charcoal gray. The formulation felt just a touch sheerer compared to the previous two but I had no issues with application. Two coats provided an opaque and even finish.

Generation Zen:
A mauve taupe brown, Generation Zen is super rich and pigmented. I used two coats for the swatches below.

Gadget-Free:
The only non-creme finish out of the six, Gadget-Free is gunmetal metallic with just a hint of mauve. The formulation is packed with shimmer particles and the finish is quite smooth and non-streaky.

Overall, this is a lovely monochromatic collection perfect for those that like to sport some sophisticated, muted tips. There's no dud in the formulations as each shade is super pigmented and opaque. "Mind-Full Meditation" can definitely benefit from a thinner but it's still otherwise a killer nude. It's worth noting that all the creme shades (with the exception of "Mind-Full Meditation) apply a touch darker than they appear in the bottle so keep that in mind if you plan on checking these out in stores.
