Fenty Beauty by Rihanna | Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Concealer: Review and Swatches
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is welcoming 2019 with a whole bunch of new releases and one of the most talked about items is the Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Concealer ($32 CAD for 8 ml). Described as a "creamy, long-wear, crease-proof liquid concealer with light-as-air, medium-to-full coverage", the range is available in 50 different shades. I've had the chance to test it out for a few days now and am ready to share my full review with you. To read on, click......

Packaging:
The Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Foundation from Fenty Beauty comes in a standard plastic tube paired with a tapered doe-foot applicator. The frosted matte finish and the off-white cream cap gives the packaging a chic and minimalist feel that's definitely on-trend.

Formulation:
With a creamy and lightweight liquid formulation, the Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Concealer is cruelty-free and made without parabens or phthalates. The main selling point, however, is that the concealer is available in 50 shades. So chances are, most people can find their perfect match. I like how the concealer applies and blends flawlessly. The finish is satin but not dewy and coverage was sheerer than expected but buildable. However, this is more of an under-eye and general discoloration concealer so I wouldn't recommend it for covering up acne or blemishes as the formulation is not pigmented enough. There was minimal creasing or clinging and the finish is pretty smoothing.

Where the formulation disappointed was its wear time. For day to day makeup, I wear only powder and concealer and I found that when paired with the new Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Setting Powder (review to come), the concealer disappeared completely by the end of the day (after ~12 hours). Although my skin is pretty oily, some coverage usually still remains even when I use a light-coverage brightening concealer like the YSL Touche Éclat so I was pretty surprised by how the Pro Filt'r faded without a trace. There appear to be lots of positive online feedback on the wear time as well so the longevity probably varies with different skin types.
I was sent two shades to try. "140" is a very pale ivory with a pink undertone while "145" is an even paler ivory with a soft yellow undertone. All the shades are supposedly designed to pair with the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundations. However, I was sent the shade "145" for the foundation and it is significantly darker compared to the concealer shade. Therefore, I would caution against buying directly based on your Pro Fil'tr shade number. I am a MAC NC15 and the "140" works alright for my undereye area while "145" gives me an unappealing white cast, especially as the day wears on. I've not checked out the full range in stores yet but I have high confidence that I can find a better match amongst the other 48 shades.

Overall this is a nice medium-coverage foundation that's creamy, smoothing, and easy to blend. However, I experienced significant fading by the end of the day so I would not recommend it for those with oily skin.
