New from Guerlain comes a natural foundation formulated with 97% naturally derived ingredients that promise a 16-hour glowing finish. Available in 30 shades, the L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation ($75 CAD for 30 ml) contains extracts of red algae and white cocoa with antioxidant properties. Packaging:
The L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation comes in an elegant glass bottle molded with a unique, vase-like appearance. The offset cap has a pale gold finish and the Guerlain double G logo is etched on the top. Lastly, the foundation dispenses from a convenient pump dispenser.
Formulation:
With a creamy, viscous formulation, the L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation provides a buildable, medium to high coverage. Whenever a foundation is described as "glowy", the finish is usually quite dewy so I was surprised that the L'Essentiel Natural Glow sets to a transfer-proof, satin-matte finish. Additionally, the finish is nice and blurring and there is minimal caking and creasing around the eyes and any dry patches. The formulation technically provides an SPF 20 protection but due to the restrictive Canadian sunscreen regulations, the SPF protection is not advertised in Canada.
I have here the shade "01N Very Light", the second lightest shade which is a soft ivory with neutral undertones. There is notable oxidizing so even if you have a warm undertone, I'd recommend getting the neutral shade which will turn more yellow with time. In terms of wear, L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation performed surprisingly well. Although I experience some shine around my T-zone, the formulation is resistant to fading. I did notice some creasing around my nose; however, this isn't a dealbreaker. The foundation definitely turned more "glowy" as the day went on but it never looked greasy or unflattering.

Guerlain foundations have been hit or miss for me but I'm glad to say that I'm a fan of the new L'Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation. Despite the natural, soft-satin finish, the formulation provides a nice and long-lasting coverage!
