This Works | Morning Expert Skincare Collection: Review
Recently I was introduced to the British skincare brand called This Works that places a focus on sleep as the "essential first step in your skincare routine. By optimizing skin performance through the 24-hour day, This Works has a new collection that's all about helping the skin wake-up and thrive during the day time. With five products, the Morning Expert range is available exclusively online at Sephora Canada. I've got a review of each item to share with you today. To read on, click......
This Works | Morning Expert Vitamin C Power Mask: Review
This Works | Morning Expert Vitamin C Power Mask
This Works | Morning Expert Vitamin C Power Mask ($80 CAD for 55 ml):
Formulated with 10% vitamin C, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil, the Morning Expert Vitamin C Power Mask is a smoothing brightening mask with a rich creamy texture. The vitamin C in the mask is actually in a granule form that feels slightly scrubby. The mask is to be massaged first onto dry skin; then continue massaging with dampened fingertips to activate the vitamin C. The mask washes off easily but there is a slight slick residue. This reminds me quite a bit of the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Mask both in terms of texture and result. Although very softening and nourishing, the mask didn't provide a significant brightening effect. Therefore, if a brighter complexion is your main aim, I would recommend trying a Vitamin C serum (ex. the This Works Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum below), oil, or moisturizer instead.

This Works | Morning Expert Multi-Acid Pads: Review
This Works | Morning Expert Multi-Acid Pads
This Works | Morning Expert Multi-Acid Pads ($66 CAD for 60 Pads):
With 60 disposable sheets, the Morning Expert Multi-Acid Pads is a convenient exfoliating and brightening toner formulated with niacinamide, witch hazel, aloe juice, various fruit acids, azelaic acid, and vitamin B. With a pleasant scent of essential oils, the pads aren't as saturated in toner as I would have preferred (the top few are pretty much dry), but the fiber material feels durable and luxurious. I like how refreshing and soothing the toner feels but I do wish that the formulation does not contain alcohol, which probably contributes to the pads being dry. With that said, the pads gently exfoliate and help clarify the skin. I love me some good pre-soaked toner pads for traveling so although these are pricey, the formulation and the nice, thick fiber pads make it worth the splurge.

Ingredients: Water, Niacinamide, HamamelisVirginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Vaccinium Myrtillus(Bilberry) Fruit Extract, Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Fragrance, Azelaic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hyaluronate, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Dehydroacetic Acid, Linalool, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Limonene.
This Works | Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum & Open Eyes: Review
This Works | Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum (Left) & Open Eyes (Right)
This Works | Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum ($76 CAD for 30 ml):
With 10% vitamin C and 2% hyaluronic acid, this is a brightening and hydrating day serum. When it comes to serums, I'm very particular with their texture because it needs to layer well with the other steps of my skincare. With a runny, easy-to-spread formulation, the Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum applies like a dream, leaving behind no sticky or greasy residue. It layers well and also mixes nicely with oils and boosters without pilling or patching. In addition to boosting hydration, the formulation visibly brightens and smoothes so I've been using this both day and night. If you are looking for a great vitamin C serum, this is definitely a recommendation from me!

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Sodium Hyaluronate, Albizia Julibrissin (Persian Silk Tree) Bark Extract, Heptyl Glucoside, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Levulinate, Benzyl Alcohol, Marrubium Vulgare (Horehound) Extract, Sodium Anisate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Phytic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance, Dehydroacetic Acid, Linalool, Heptanol, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Limonene.
This Works | Morning Expert Open Eyes: Review
This Works | Morning Expert Open Eyes
This Works | Morning Expert Open Eyes ($60 CAD for 15 ml):
With a cooling metal applicator that helps massage the product, the Morning Expert Open Eyes is an "anti-blue light" eye cream formulated with giant kelp extract for tightening the eye area, Persian silk tree extract for reducing the appearance of dark circles, and cocoa seed peptides that diminish the effects of blue light. The eye cream is quite lightweight and gentle. I found it tricky to apply smoothly with the metal applicator but the cream spreads just fine with my fingertips. The formulation is lightly nourishing and hydrating and because it's not greasy, it won't migrate and irritate the eyes. Overall, this is a pretty standard eye cream for the day time. It's nothing extraordinary but it gets the job done.

This Works | Morning Expert Wake-Up Drops ($33 CAD for 5 ml):
A multi-use, 100% essential oil blend made with rosemary, peppermint, and lavender, the Morning Expert Wake-Up Drops is designed to boost alertness and positivity. To use, simply add a few drops to your diffuser, morning shower, or warm washcloth. The blend has a very classic scent that's clean and refreshing but I personally would have also liked a splash of citrus for a bit of sweetness.
