Laura Mercier | Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector: Review and Swatches
Recently, Laura Mercier has revamped its Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector (C$59 for 50 ml). Boasting a new and improved formulation and a larger shade range, the product promises a dewy, sheer coverage and long-lasting hydration. Even though I've actually never tried the original, I was still very excited to test out the new version. To read my review of the formulation, click......

Packaging:
The Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector comes in a simple beige-colored squeezable tube. The tube has no pump so the product dispenses directly from a spout opening. However, as the consistency of the tinted moisturizer is quite viscous, you don't get much caking and leaking around the opening.

Formulation:
Infused with shea butter, macadamia oil, kukui seed oil, tamarind extract, vitamin C, and vitamin E, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector has a creamy but lightweight formulation. The ingredients include various chemical sunscreens that provide an SPF of 30; however, due to Canadian sunscreen regulations, the SPF is not advertised in Canada. As is expected with a tinted moisturizer, the pigmentation is very sheer. The formulation won't camouflage acne or discoloration but will even out the overall complexion. I tried applying the Tinted Moisturizer with a brush but found the result too streaky. In fact, the formulation does take quite some effort to blend out, even when applied using the fingertips. However, when fully blended, there is minimal creasing, settling, or streaking.
The range is available in 20 shades and I have here "0N1 Petal". This is one of the lightest shades and is described as a "very fair neutral"; however, the shade is actually not that fair and oxidizes noticeably right after application. The finish is pretty dewy and quite honestly, it's not a product that I would ever wear without a powder as the shine emphasizes my pores and textural imperfections. With that said, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector works amazingly well as a tinted primer. The dewy finish provides a grippy base for powder foundation and the sheer pigmentation boosts coverage. When paired with powder, the tinted moisturizer boosts glow but minimizes cakiness. I needed to blot around my nose a new times throughout the day but there was minimal shine elsewhere on the face. There's notable fading at the end of the day on but things never got icky or patchy. Additionally, it's worth noting that despite containing dimethicone, the tinted moisturizer didn't pill or feel heavy as the day wore on.

Overall, I quite like this product but it's not something that I would recommend to everyone. If you are looking for an easy, one-step-and-out-the-door kind of coverage, the Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector will probably disappoint (unless you already have near-perfect skin). However, for someone like me who likes to use a powder foundation but doesn't like the traditional, silicone-heavy primer, this tinted moisturizer works great as an anchor that helps things last longer while also boosting coverage. If this sounds like something you are interested in, definitely get a sample to try!
