Dior | Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder Perfecting Translucent Powder: Review and Swatches
New from Dior comes a pressed powder designed for both the face and body. With a talc-free formulation that promises to blur and set, the Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder Perfecting Translucent Powder (C$50 for 11g) is designed to be used alone or over foundation. I wanted to share my review and swatches with you today. To read on, click......

Dior | Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder Perfecting Translucent Powder (C$50 for 11 g):
Available in 10 shades, the new Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder is described as a "weightless translucent powder" that "reduces shine, sets makeup, and warms the complexion". With a gel-infused, talc-free formulation, the pressed powder comes in a clear acrylic compact with the Dior logo embedded in silver on the lid. The powder is pressed with the easily recognizable oblique pattern from Dior, which unfortunately wears away after a few uses.

With a silky but surprisingly not so gel-like texture, the powder actually takes quite a bit of effort to pick up with a brush. I found that I really had to press and swirl hard to pick up enough product. In fact, the texture of the Face & Body Powder-No-Powder feels almost like that of a baked powder. The formulation provides a natural matte finish with just a hint of luminosity as the powder contains some very subtle shimmers (that are in no way sparkly or glittery). The formulation provides a light to medium coverage and effectively blurs pores and textural imperfections. Because the powder is so lightweight and not very "creamy", it does accentuate dryness so it's best used over foundation, makeup primer, or very moisturized skin.

I have here a few of the lighter shades. "1N-1 Neutral" and "2N-2 Neutral" are very similar to each other with 2N being just a touch peachier. "3N-3 Neutral", however, is significantly darker with almost a golden bronze quality. Both 1N and 2N work for me but I feel that there are at least 2 or 3 shades missing between 2N and 3N that could benefit those with light to medium beige skin tones.
In terms of wear, the Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder fares okay. There's minimal transferring but I did notice some patching and creasing around the nose area where I tend to get the most oily. Overall, however, I actually quite like this powder. I think it's great for those looking for something with a light to medium coverage that's not unnaturally matte. It works great for those that don't wear a whole lot of makeup but the shade range could definitely be expanded upon.

Dior | Backstage Face Brush (C$60):
Along with the new powders, Dior also sent along their Backstage Face Brush for me to try. With a rather small wooden handle, this is a dense, circular complexion brush made with synthetic fibers. The brush feels very soft and well-made but the painted wooden handle should not be rinsed directly under water, making cleaning quite a pain. The brush can be used with both liquid and powder products but I find that it doesn't actually pair so well with the Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder. The soft, smooth bristles have a hard time picking up the rather densely packed powder so the brush is probably more suitable for softer powders and liquid foundations.
