Glow Recipe | Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Hue Drops Sun Glow Serum: Review
The Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops (reviewed here) is literally one of my favorite daytime serums (and definitely my favorite Glow Recipe product), so I was quite excited about the launch of a tinted variation. Promising a healthy warm glow, the new Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Hue Drops Sun Glow Serum (C$47.50 for 40 ml) is the same as the original Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops, but with a sunny bronzy glow. Packaged in the same teardrop-shaped glass bottle but in a bronze color, the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Hue Drops Sun Glow Serum is formulated with niacinamide, watermelon, coffee extract, Centella Asiatica (cica) extract, and hyaluronic acid. With a lightweight gel consistency and a lovely watermelon scent, the serum is easy to blend and very hydrating. This updated version is infused with a bronzy mica powder that gives the skin a warm bronzy glow. Although not overtly sparkly or shimmery, the tint is a lot more intense than expected. It's certainly no liquid bronzer but I was expecting a very sheer wash of color. However, for pale to light skin tones, the serum gives a noticeable coloration. Personally, I think the color is too dark and muddy for my skin tone but on medium to deep skin tones, it would probably look very healthy and glowy.

Because the formulation isn't waterproof or smudge-proof, the color will transfer and wear off as the day goes on. Additionally, if you have lighter skin and struggle with dry skin or dry patches, the finish might be a bit uneven. Hopefully, Glow Recipe is planning on releasing more shades but as it stands right now, the Sun Glow version is not for every skin tone. I would love to see a lighter champagne and a soft rose gold. Overall, I love the idea behind the new Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Hue Drops Sun Glow Serum as it adds even more glow to the skin. However, the Sun Glow color may not suit everyone so hopefully, Glow Recipe will release more variations.
