Award Update and Giveaway Winner

Hey guys, hoping you are all had a good Thursday. Winter term is ending soon for me which means final time is coming up! Also, I can't believe I only have one more term of school until graduation. My chances of getting into medical school next year is very slim so I don't know what I will be doing after graduation (more time for blogging?).
Anyways, on a brighter note, thanks to all of you that voted for me, "The Happy Sloths" is now a Top 10 finalist of the MIB Best Canadian Beauty Blog (a total of 172 blogs entered). I really want to thank you guys, I feel so grateful to have made it this far. The winning blogs will be decided by a prestigious panels of experts (Christine from Temptalia is judging!) so hopefully they like sloths!
Also, the winner for the $20 Born Pretty Store Gift Card Giveaway has been randomly generated and I have already gotten in touch with Kat. Thanks to everyone who entered, I will hopefully have another Born Pretty Store giveaway soon because you guys know how much I love sharing cool nail stuff!

Lush Holiday 2013 Preview + Made In Blog Awards

Hello everyone!! I am doing second post today, that's right! Two posts in one day! I know it's not even November yet but Lush has released it's Christmas 2013 collection. In the next few weeks I will review a few items from the collection.

One Lovely Blog Award: 7 Things About Me

Hello everyone, Jasmine here. I was nominated for the "One Lovely Blog Award" by both Cristy from My Own Personal Stage and Lizzy from Lizzy's Place so thank you to both ladies. For this award, I am to share seven things about myself, so here goes.


1. I have very flexible ankles. I am pretty flexible in general but my ankles particular are super "loose", a physical therapist even commented on them once. Consequently, I almost never sprain my ankles because they just bounce back whenever I have a misstep.

2. I get the munchies late at night, to satisfy my cravings, I look at delicious pictures on /r/FoodPorn. 


3. I am a lip product junkie. If you haven't already noticed, aside from my extensive nail polish collection, I have many many lipsticks. I kinda with I had a few extra set of lips so I can use lip products more often.

4. My front teeth are very rodent like. I never noticed them before but once in elementary school a very mean boy pointed them out to me and made fun of them. From then on, I am a lot more conscious of them.

5. I am horrible at finding gifts for my father, whose birthday is actually tomorrow. He is just so hard to shop for!

6. I took ballet when I was a kid...... for no more than two weeks. Hah, with my body proportions, it was probably a good idea that I stopped when I did.

7. I love summer. I just want to throw that out there. Unfortunately though, the only summer that I decide not take summer courses is the only summer that I am cramped up at home studying for the MCAT, oh woe is me. Look at that beautiful blue sky outside the window......

The Best Blog Award

Hey guys, we are so behind on awards and tags because I have been so busy posting daily challenge posts! Anyhow, here is one called "The Best Blog Award"; we were nominated by the lovely Chantal from Chantal's Corner. I also recall that Stef from Fairly Charming nominatied as well but I for the life of me cannot find her post on it! Nevertheless, I like to thank both ladies for nominating us, and here are the responses to Chantal's questions:

It is like crack for my cheeks

1. What is your number one beauty item?
Jasmine: My eyebrow pencil from shiseido. The eyebrows are really important for me (because mine are seriously lacking), if I could use only one product before heading out the door, it would be my eyebrow pencil.
Angela: Blush is my favorite, I need at least blush on my face as well as foundation or BB cream. My number one blush right now is Hervana (reviewed here), god I love that stuff.

2. What is your favorite top coat:
Jasmine: Sally Hansen Insta Dri Top Coat!
Angela: Whatever is on sale/cheap.

3. If you go anywhere in the world, where would you visit?

Jasmine: Anywhere tropical!

Angela: I really want to visit almost everywhere, but right now I am really missing London and I really want to go to Denmark right now (I saw an Essiebutton vlog).

4. What type of movies do you like to watch?

Jasmine: Comedies, dramas, action, pretty much anything not scary. :S

Angela: I like a variety of generas, however I think I am pretty picky with my comedies. I really dislike the super dumb comedies and I like all other movies to be good if I am going to watch it.

5. What is your favorite flower?

Jasmine: Eh I don't really care for flowers (kind of ironic given my name is a flower name).

Angela: Orchids are my go to, but there are so many other beautiful flowers it makes it hard to choose.

6. Do you have a green thumb?

Jasmine: Nah, never tried gardening before, doesn't help either that I live in an apartment.

Angela: I tend to stay away from the garden, the pros in the family know I have no clue.

7. Mac or PC?

Jasmine: Definitely Mac.

Jasmine: Any? I do not discriminate.

Angela: Cotton Candy, but sometimes I will be craving something else.

9. Sweet or salty?

Jasmine: Both, sometimes I crave sweet things and sometimes I crave savory stuff. 

Angela: Both, at the same time, or one after the other. I can't control these cravings man.

10 Colors or nudes on your toes?
Jasmine: I usually don't paint my toes, though I did recently use a funky snakeskin design from Sally Hansen on my toes.

Angela: Depends on my mood, but definitely no bright colors.

We're Nominated for a Liebster Award!

We were more than delighted when Yolennie from Lavender Fedora nominated us for a Liebster award! We started blogging since January 30th of this year, so to be nominated for something after only blogging for a month, we feel incredibly honoured! For those of you that don't know, Liebster Awards are spread around by bloggers as a way for up and coming blogs to be discovered. A blogger gets nominated and he/she will answer the 11 questions the nominator provided and then in turn nominate 11 more bloggers and come up with 11 new questions. This following are our response to the lovely Yolennie's questions.

Our Inspiration!?!?

1) Why did you choose this name for your blog?
At the time that Angela had the idea of starting a beauty blog, we were both obsessed with sloths. It started with this baby sloths bath video and turned into a full-on sloth obsession. We wanted a name that wasn't too generic and too beauty-focused. Also, "The Happy Sloths" just had a nice ring to it. This blog, to both of us, is sort of sanctity of creativity from our hectic and stressful lives, and when we blog, we are just very much like a couple of happy sloths, enjoying every moment of our experience.

2) What do you enjoy the most from blogging?
Jasmine: I enjoy the ability to be creative again. Back in high school, I like to think I excelled in art and anything that involved doing something with my hands. But ever since university, I never get the opportunity or time to be artsy and crafty. So with this blog, I actually get to find a little bit of creativity in my otherwise dull everyday life.

Angela: I like being crafty and writing since there isn't a lot of opportunity for free writing anymore. I also like to use it as a procrastination from my actual work, which is a good and a bad thing. It gets my creative juices flowing which is not something you always get while studying Sciences.


3) How would you describe your style? 
Jasmine: It's fairly relaxed and simple. But when I put in some effort, I go for a demure gypsy floral look.
Angela: I don't really have one. I am more ever-changing, sometimes I like to be edgy, sometimes feminine, and other times just a bit wild in my outfit choices.

4) If money is not a problem, and you have only one store to buy all your clothes and accessories where would it be?
Jasmine: A Valentino Boutique.
Angela: Probably Top Shop, I love that store. Especially the ones in London and the one in New York, the flagship here is pretty good too.

5) Whose wardrobe would you like to swap with?
Jasmine: I love Taylor Swift's style, girl's got it going on!
Angela: I would love Jennifer Lawrence's wardrobe, that girl is too gorgeous. Forget her wardrobe can I seriously just BE her, switch bodies and stuff.

6) What is your favorite memory from your blogging journey?
Jasmine: EVERYTHING? Although I love photographing pictures for the blog the most!
Angela: I just really like trying out all the products and forming an opinion about them.

7) What, or who is your current obsession?
Jasmine: HBO's GIRLS
Angela: Jennifer Lawrence. Come end of the month it will also be Doctor Who.

Angela: Who doesn't love JLaw?!?!

8) What's the top item on your wish list right now?
Jasmine: Honestly I don't really have anything on my wish list, pretty content as of now.
Angela: I have some stuff lined up that I am getting, so that doesn't count. I am really wanting the Princess Jasmine compact right now, it keeps selling out.


9) What would you like to be (career wise) if you don’t have to worry about anything financially?
Jasmine: Fashion Designer
Angela: I used to want to go into Fine Arts. If I had lots of money I would probably try to buy my way into Med School though.

Jasmine: The smell of chlorine=HUGE turn-on.

10) What’s the weirdest thing about you?
Jasmine: I love the smell of chlorine.
Angela: I am obsessed with being warm at night, I have a heated blanket and a ski headband to keep my ears warm.
