Philosophy Resurface - The Microdelivery Dual-Phase Peel: Review
At-home facials are becoming more and more prevalent nowadays and many skincare products are often formulated with alpha-hydroxy-acids (AHA), a potent ingredient that chemically exfoliates the skin. So today I want to share with you guys an at-home facial peel system from Philosophy called The Microdelivery Dual-Phase Peel ($72 CAD). To read more about this two-step peel, click.......

Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel
The Microdelivery Dual-Phase Peel is a two-step AHA facial peel. The kit comes in a large box containing Step I, a vitamin C/peptide scrub and Step II, an AHA and salicylic acid activating gel.

Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel Step I
Step I:
Made with vitamin c and peptide crystals, Step I applies like a thick sugar scrub that physically exfoliates the skin. The texture is a tad rough so it's best to just spread it on the face instead of scrubbing aggressively.
It comes in a 60g plastic jar and for each use I need about a couple teaspoons (the packaging recommends one but the I didn't find that to be enough to cover my entire face).

Step II:
To be applied over Step I, Step II is made with lactic acid (an AHA derived from milk) and salicylic acid, both of which help chemically exfoliate skin to reduce the looks of enlarged pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. This step has the consistency of a gel cleanser. Once it is applied over Step I, the product causes a very temporary fizzing. It gives off some nice warming sensation but that doesn't last too long.
This step comes in a 60ml bottle with a small spout. The instruction again says to use about one teaspoon but I find that to be hardly enough to cover the whole face.

Philosophy The Microdelivery Peel Step II
Overall:
My skin certainly feel and look smoother after using this peel duo. Compared to the Juice Beauty Green Apple Full Strength Peel I reviewed a long time ago, the Philosophy duo is definitely a lot gentler. The foaming/warming effect of Step II goes away too quickly, which meant I had to use a lot more than one teaspoon to actually cover the entire face and dissolve the crystals from Step I. With that said, I think this is great gentle AHA exfoliation kit for those with more sensitive skin.

Availability:
Philosophy is available online and in stores at Sephora, The Bay, and Shoppers.
