For Fall 2016, Lancome has partnered up with the ever-chic French fashion house Sonia Rykiel for a whimsical makeup collection. Created in collaboration with Lancome creative director Lise Eldrige and Sonia Rykiel artistic director Julie de Libran, the collection is full of easy-to-wear colors. Packaging:
The Lancome x Sonia Rykiel Le Germain La Palettes come in beautiful rectangular compacts. Each palette has a unique print on the lid. The "Saint-Germain" palette features a white background covered in cute artwork from French artist Andre Saraiva. The "French Spirit" palette has the signature Sonia Rykiel stripe-design.
Inside each palette are a nice dual-ended brush and a long rectangular mirror. There are nine colors in each palette: six shadows, one base color, and two liner shades. Interestingly, the base and the liners are covered with a metal flap. I find this a bit strange given how they are all powder products, so I'm not sure what the flap is supposed to be protecting. Nevertheless, the packaging is very beautiful, perfect for collectors and eyeshadow fans alike.

Formulation:
The "Saint-German" La Palette features a cool-blue theme. For the shadows, you get a matte off-white cream, a soft khaki shimmer, a sheer silver sparkle, a matte gray-blue, a gray-blue shimmer with silver sparkles, and a dark grey with silver sparkles. The "base" is a soft pink, and the "liners" are an elephant gray with silver sparkles and a super deep denim blue with shimmers. Again, the base and the two liners are powders, not creams.

The formulation for the majority of the shades is pretty sheer, although the texture is very soft and silky. The only really pigmented shade is the dark denim shimmer, which is designed to be used as a liner. I think this is a great palette if you like a more soft and elegant look. But personally, I like very pigmented shadows that I can sheer out if I wanted a more subtle look.

The "Parisian Spirit" palette has a more mauve-taupe color scheme. For the shadows, you get a light pink shimmer, a soft rosy pink shimmer, a sheer silver sparkle, a light taupe shimmer, a mauve-brown shimmer, and a matte plum-brown. The "base" in this palette is a soft cream matte, and the "liners" are a pretty eggplant purple and a bright satin violet.

Overall the shades in this palette are slightly more intense than that of the "Saint-Germain" palette. The pinky mauve shimmers are very pretty and alluring, although a few of the mattes are quite dry and patchy.
