Not too long ago, Tatcha released a lightweight water-based moisturizer designed specifically for oily skin. Formulated with Japanese Wild Rose, known for its balancing and pore-refining properties, the Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer ($82 CAD) is especially appropriate for the summertime! Packaging:
The Pore Perfecting Water Gel comes in a beautiful light blue glass bottle equipped with a convenient pump dispenser. Tatcha is all about amazing packaging and every single detail about the box, the information slip, and the decorative sticker on the bottle is perfection.

Formulation:
With a runny, almost serum-like texture, the Tatcha Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer is designed for oily/combination skin with enlarged pores. My skin is all of those things so I was very excited to try this! The main ingredients are the water, glycerin, Japanese wild rose extract, green tea extract, rice extract, chamomile extract, and a plethora of other botanical extracts. Also dispersed throughout the moisturizer is a super fine dusting of 23-karat gold designed to provide a subtle glow to the skin.

Because the formulation is so thin, it's easy to spread so a little goes a long way. I use probably one and a half pump for my entire face and neck. The product absorbs quite quickly but it does leave an ever-so-slightly tacky residue on the face. It's not a huge deal if you regularly top your moisturizer with makeup but for someone like me who often goes about my day without makeup, the tacky residue is not ideal. With that said, I have noticed visible shine reduction. With my regular moisturizers, my skin will start to get oily at the one-hour mark. With the Tatcha Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel, however, I see a delayed and decreased shine. Overall I really like this product! I think the 23-karat gold shimmers are a bit excessive and barely noticeable but the light and oil-controlling formulation is perfect for combination to oily skin!
