Peter Thomas Roth Mask-A-Holic Kit: Review

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links but the product was purchased by me.
During my visit to NYC this summer, I spotted the Peter Thomas Roth Mask-A-Holic ($75 USD) set in Sephora and had to pick it up. I've been wanting to try the brand's masks for a while now but the Canadian Sephoras don't carry this particular set any more and I can't justify paying for a full-sized jar given how many masks I already have in my stash. So when I saw this value set I just couldn't resist. I've had a chance to try out all five masks included in the kit so I wanted to share with you some quick reviews. To read on, click.....
Peter Thomas Roth | Mask-A-Holic Kit
In this value kit worth $206 USD, you get five 49ml-masks: the Cucumber Gel Mask, the 24K Gold Mask, the Irish Moor Mud Mask, the Rose Stem Cell Mask, and the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. The five masks come in a really pretty gift-ready box.
Peter Thomas Roth | Cucumber Gel Mask
Peter Thomas Cucumber Gel Mask:
A refreshing, cooling gel mask designed for dry or irritated skin, the Cucumber Gel Mask is formulated with water, aloe vera, extracts of cucumber, papaya, pineapple, bilberry fruit and lots of other botanical goodness. With a bright translucent green appearance, the mask is super lightweight.
The airy gel formulation easily spreads on the face and it feels very cooling and relaxing. There are no feelings of tingling or irritation. Once it's washed off, my skin felt refreshed and soft. It's not the most potent mask I've tried but it's a nice option for when I just want something soothing and calming.

Peter Thomas Roth | 24K Gold Mask
Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask:
Arguably one of the most interesting masks on the skincare market, the 24K Gold Mask is designed to lift and firm the skin. This luxurious mask is formulated with glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, caffeine, and real gold. With a slightly thick and gloopy formulation, the mask really doesn't feel like much on the face. It wasn't particularly soothing or tingly and after I washed it off, I didn't notice a big difference on my face. Perhaps my skin was softer after use but the mask feels a bit more gimmicky than effective.

Peter Thomas Roth | Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask
Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask:
A completely black mud mask made from Irish Moor Mud, this one has a rather lightweight, almost whipped texture. Full of minerals and vitamins, the Irish Moor Mud is also infused with Hijiki seaweed that nourishes and hydrates the skin. The mask contains volcanic ash and charcoal for an even deeper purifying effect. This mud mask does not dry at all and is in fact quite hydrating. The removal process was a bit time-consuming as the mask really clings to the pores but overall it is very gentle. If you want that deep cleansing effect of a traditional mud mask, this one won't give you that. However, if you have sensitive or dry skin, the Irish Moor Mud Purifying Mask may work quite well.

Peter Thomas Roth | Pumpkin Enzyme Mask
Pumpkin Enzyme Mask:
Hands down my favorite mask from this set, the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask literally smells like the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. Made with pumpkin extract, glycerin, vitamin C, and lactic acid (AHA), this is an exfoliating mask also containing small bits of aluminum oxide particles. The texture is thick but easy to spread and a little goes a long way because the AHA is quite strong. The mask feels a bit stingy and tingly on the skin but the discomfort eventually goes away. My skin is left super polished and radiant after each use and I like the scrubbing particles that gently exfoliate my skin during removal.

Peter Thomas Roth | Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask
Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask:
Designed to combat aging, this gel mask is formulated with rose stem cells and rose extracts. The texture feels identical to the cucumber mask but it's not as cooling. After removal, my skin felt softened and refreshed but I'm not sure if this is all that special. With that said, both this and the cucumber mask can be worn overnight for a more intense effect.
Peter Thomas Roth | Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask
Overall this set is a bit of a mixed-bag. While I quite enjoyed the Pumpkin Enzyme and the Cucumber Gel masks, the other three really didn't do much for me. The Irish Moor Mud just seemed too gentle and the Rose Stem Cell and 24K Gold Mask left my skin pretty much feeling the same as before. Have you tried any of these masks from Peter Thomas Roth? I'd be very interested in hearing your thoughts so leave a comment below!
