This limited edition Melted Matte in Candy Cane comes in a clear acrylic lip gloss tube. Unlike the original packaging of the Melted Mattes, Candy Cane's cap is not gold but striped, with an adorable and festive candy-cane design. The applicator is a traditional doe-foot. However, with intense matte liquid lipsticks like this, I would recommend using a lip brush to attain the most precise application.
An exclusive shade for this holiday season, Candy Cane is a hot fuschia pink that's super bold and eye-catching. What's even more special, though, is that the lip color has a yummy mint chocolate scent. The liquid lipstick has a creamy formulation that spreads easily and dries fairly quickly. With one swipe you can get an opaque coverage but you may end up using more than you actually need because how fast the color dries. Therefore, you should work quickly to attain an even coverage before things set.

If you end up applying too thick a layer (or too many layers), the matte finish will become a bit too thick and crackly. The wear is transfer-proof so this is very long-lasting. The color is definitely drying but that's really the price you have to pay for a matte liquid lipstick that completely sets. What I have noticed with Candy Cane that I have not with previous shades I've reviewed is that the formulation is slightly stingy. I'm not sure if it's from the added peppermint flavor or something else that's different with the formulation but the sensation is not very pleasant. With that said, the stinging sensation does go away on its own after 20 minutes or so.
