Dior | Dior Addict Lacquer Plump: Review and Swatches
New from Dior comes a range of unique lacquered inks designed to plump and hydrate the lips. Available in 5 glittery and 13 high-shine shades, the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump ($43 CAD) features an oil-in-water emulsion that's infused with hibiscus extract and a hearty dose of color. I've got a few shades to share with you today. To read my review and see some swatches, click......

Packaging:
The Dior Addict Lacquer Plump comes in a gorgeous clear and black acrylic lip gloss tube similar to that of the Dior Addict Fluid Sticks. The clear reservoir is molded to look like a lipstick bullet, not only does it look super neat but it also provides a peek into the shade inside. The classic knobbed cap is equipped with a tapered doe-foot applicator for a precise and even application.

Formulation:
Dior describes the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump as a "lip-plumping lacquered ink that provides an intense, long-wear color and an incredibly comfortable texture". With a lightweight, non-sticky consistency, the product indeed feels comfortable and hydrating. It almost has a "wet" feeling that lingers long after application. The pigmentation is intense but the application is slightly patchy and the lip colors are not very long-wearing. Similar to the YSL Glossy Stains, the Dior Addict Lacquer Plump is essentially a high-shine lip tint. The formulation definitely stains the lips but the shiny finish is extremely prone to transferring and the stain left behind often ends up looking quite uneven. Additionally, with the two non-glitter shades, the color turned a bit "milky" around the inner rim of my lips where the product comes in contact with saliva (this is actually an issue I had with the Dior Addict Lip Tattoos as well). Lastly, the formulation is not what I would call "plumping". They certainly provide volume and hydration as would any ordinary lip gloss or lip oil but they do not provide any active plumping action. See below for a breakdown of the four shades I have here.

107 Dior Platinum: This is a silvery mauve shimmer with a unique metallic finish. The formulation is packed with shimmer particles but the application is somewhat patchy.  With several layers, however, I was able to obtain a smooth and opaque coverage. This shade actually stains the lips pink which is surprising because the product doesn't look pink in the tube. As mentioned, the finish is not transfer-proof so the shimmers do come off with eating and drinking. As a result, the lip color can become very patchy as the day goes on.

456 Dior Pretty: This is a muted rosy berry. The formulation is semi-sheer but the pigmentation is still quite intense. The finish is slightly patchy and as mentioned, the color turns a bit milky around the inner rim of the lips. Like with the other shades, the shine wears off with light eating and drinking and the resulting stain is unfortunately patchy.

538 Dior Glitz: A bright coral pink, Dior Glitz is packed with iridescent golden sparkles. The application was a little challenging at first as the shimmers didn't distribute evenly but with a couple more layers the finish is a lot more even. Similar to "107 Dior Platinum", the shimmers do come off with eating and drinking so the color will need touch-ups to even out the finish.

758 D-Measure: A bright warm red, D-Measure wears a lot darker than it appears in the tube. In terms of formulation, this one is definitely the best out of the four. The pigmentation is superb and the application is a lot more even. I still experienced a bit of a milky appearance around the inner rim of the lips but it's a lot more subtle in comparison to that of "456 Dior Pretty". Although this one is also prone to transferring, the stain it leaves behind is slightly more even and non-patchy.

Overall this is a pretty interesting line of lip stains. I applaud Dior for creating something new and exciting but I think the formulation left much to be desired. With the exception of "758 D-Measure", the application is patchy and the wear is lackluster. The glossy stain idea is definitely perfect for the summer but the execution needs work. With that said, "758 D-Measure" is worth checking out if you like a warmer red.
