Biore | UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ Sunscreen: Review
During my visit to Tokyo earlier this year, I was asked by a friend to pick up a few of the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+, a popular and affordable sunscreen in Japan that's readily available at almost all drugstores and supermarkets. Sold for ¥700 for 68g (equivalent to $8.50 CAD) in Japan or online in Canada for ~$17, the sunscreen has a waterproof formulation containing hyaluronic acid, royal jelly, and citrus extracts. Last year, thanks to the recommendation of another friend, I found the amazing Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy SPF 50 Sunscreen so I wasn't really on the lookout for a new one. However, because the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence has such glowing reviews, I picked one up for myself to try. To read my thoughts and on the product, click......

Biore | UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ Sunscreen
Housed in a simple squeeze tube, the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is a chemical sunscreen with an SPF protection of 50. The formulation has a slightly viscous, serum-like texture that feels immediately refreshing and hydrating on the skin. The formulation spreads smoothly and sets to a soft tacky finish that layers well with makeup and other skincare without pilling or patching. I thought that with a name like Aqua Rich Watery Essence, the sunscreen may be too dewy or slick, leaving the skin with a shiny finish. However, this was not the case. The formulation provided extra hydration without adding shine and there was no icky silicone-y texture or unflattering white cast.

Biore | UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ Sunscreen
As mentioned, I thought I found the perfect sunscreen for my oily/combination skin with the Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy SPF 50 Sunscreen but the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ may just be my new favorite. While the Etude House formulation is lightweight, breathable, and matte, this one provided a boost of hydration without adding greasiness or shine. If you've struggled with conventional sunscreens on the North American market, definitely give this one a try! Whether you have dry, normal, or oily skin, this is an excellent everyday sunscreen for all seasons!
