The Laura Mercier Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick comes in a sleek rectangular lipstick with a reflective gunmetal finish. The cap closes with a satisfying magnetic snap and while lipstick bullet has the traditional teardrop shape, the tip is slightly curved to hug the contours of the lips.
Formulation:
Infused with Mediterranean Sea algae extract that hydrates and smooths fine lines, the Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick comes in 30 colorful shades. The formulation is very creamy and slick while the pigmentation is semi-opaque but buildable. I have here a handful of brighter pinks and reds and there is some slight inconsistency in terms of the formulation. While the finish for all five shades has a satin-shine, the lighter shades are a touch patchy as the color does not cling well to the lips and will transfer between the upper and lower lips. Needless to say, the lipsticks are also prone to smudging and fading with eating although they wear off evenly.
Rose Décadent: This is a bright pink with a hint of coral. The finish is slightly uneven so it requires some building to achieve a nice and opaque coverage.
Fuchsia Intense: A bright cool pink, Fuchia Intense is just a touch sheer but buildable. The formulation is quite staining so it leaves behind a pink tint.

Rouge Éclatant: A bright coral red, Rouge Éclatant is a comparatively more pigmented than the previous two shades.

Rouge Muse: Described as a blue-based red, Rouge Muse is very intense and pigmented.

Rouge Ultime: Although described as the classic red, Rouge Ultime is comparatively deeper and more blue-based than Rouge Muse. However, the two shades are quite similar; so much so that it's actually pretty hard to distinguish the two unless compared side by side. This shade is also quite pigmented.

Overall, this is a nice satin lipstick collection with a hydrating and lightweight formulation. The pigmentation is very good but there is some minor patchiness with the lighter shades due to the slick formulation. I don' think the formulation is anything extraordinary but the color selection is definitely very tempting. Have you spotted the new Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick in stores yet?
