Clarins | Plant Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Oil-Emulsion: Review
Clarins is one of my favorite skincare brands and when I heard about the launch of its new Plant Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Oil-Emulsion ($68 CAD for 35 ml) at the London Drugs #LDBeauty event earlier this month, I was super excited to give it a try. Described as a unique 2-in-1 moisturizer, Plant Gold is "formulated with 100% natural ingredients to provide skin with comfort, vitality, and radiance". I've got a review to share with you today. Clarins | Plant Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Oil-Emulsion: Review
Clarins | Plant Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Oil-Emulsion
Housed in an innovative double-chambered bottle, the Plant Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Oil Emulsion is a 2-in-1 moisturizer that combines the classic Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil (in the yellow barrel) with a nourishing emulsion (in the white barrel). The chambers keep the oil and emulsion separate and the two do not come into contact until they exit the pump. The Clarins website doesn't give a very clear explanation as to the significance of this design but I presume it's intended to keep the integrity of the formulation. Made with nourishing hazelnut, macadamia, and grape seed oil and revitalizing orchid and patchouli oil, Plant Gold has a fairly runny, milky texture that spreads evenly and absorbs efficiently. Despite the non-greasy and virtually weightless finish, the moisturizer is sufficiently nourishing and long-lasting. I find it quite effective even as a nighttime moisturizer but Clarins recommends following it up with a facial oil.

In addition, Clarins believes that because Plant Gold contains essential oils (of patchouli and rosemary), it offers aromatherapy benefits. Quite honestly though, I can barely detect a scent from the moisturizer and because only a small pump is needed to cover the entire face, I doubt there's much aromatherapy going on. Nevertheless, this is a great lightweight moisturizer that really nourishes the skin without leaving behind any icky, greasy residue. The texture is very pleasing and I'm impressed with the clean, high-quality ingredients used.
