A couple years ago, Vichy released a lightweight hydration booster called the Minéral 89 Fortifying Hydrating Daily Skin Booster and it became wildly popular due to its lightweight and refreshing texture. Therefore, Vichy has created an eye version of Minéral 89 earlier this year. At the London Drugs #LDBeauty event earlier this month, I received a sample of the Minéral 89 Eyes ($34.95 CAD for 15 ml) to test out. I wanted to share with you my review today. Housed in a small pump bottle very similar to that of the original Minéral 89 Daily Booster, the Minéral 89 Eyes is described as a "repairing fortifier" that contains 89% mineral-rich volcanic thermal water sourced from the French volcanoes of the Auvergne region. Also containing shea butter for nourishment, caffeine for depuffing, microalgae extract for brightening, and hyaluronic acid for hydrating, Minéral 89 Eyes has a translucent, gel-like texture. The formulation is instantly refreshing and hydrating on the skin and it absorbs quickly without leaving behind any greasy residue. I rarely struggle with puffy eyes so I can't attest to the depuffing benefits of the formulation. For me personally, the Minéral 89 Eyes does a great job at keeping my eye area hydrated for both day and night but for those with mature or very dry skin, the formulation may not provide enough nourishment. In which case, however, an eye cream can be layered on for extra protection.
Overall, I really enjoy this product. If you are a fan of the original Minéral 89, then you will definitely appreciate the formulation of Minéral 89 Eye as it's just as hydrating and lightweight. However, if you only prefer very rich eye creams that promise more anti-aging benefits, the Minéral 89 Eyes may be a bit too light. With that said, the texture layers well so it can definitely be used alongside your regular night cream to provide an extra boost of hydration!
