Shiseido | ColorGel LipBalm: Review and Swatches
Last year, Shiseido revamped its entire makeup collection with some innovative and sleekly packaged products. For this fall, the line is expanding even further with a range of moisturizing sheer lipsticks. Available in 15 floral-inspired 15 shades, the ColorGel LipBalm (C$35 for 2 g) makes for an effortless, easy-to-apply everyday lip color. I have a few shades to share with you today. Packaging:
The Shiseido ColorGel LipBalm comes in a slim matte black rectangular case accented with a striking red lacquer stripe. The packaging is identical to that of the VisionAiry Gel Lipstick. To accommodate the balmy formulation, the bullet is molded with a simple slanted tip.

Formulation:
With just the right balance of waxes and oils, the ColorGel LipBalm is a lipstick lip balm hybrid with a slick and lightweight formulation. Despite its sheer pigmentation, the lip colors are surprisingly buildable so you can easily customize between a soft wash of color or a bolder finish. I love the hydrating, comfortable wear and the shiny, voluminous finish. As expected with a lighter formulation, the ColorGel LipBalm is prone to transferring and fading, so touch-ups are required to maintain the color and shine.

103 Peony: This is a soft coral pink scattered with subtle iridescent shimmers. The color is super fresh and youthful, perfect for spring and summer.

107 Dahlia: Although appearing as a muted rose in the tube, Dahlia is actually a fresh warm pink. The color is quite similar to the previous shade, but Dahlia is slightly pinker whereas Peony is more coral. The color is also more pigmented in comparison but the coverage is still glowy and translucent.

108 Lotus: A muted mauve rose scattered with subtle pearlescent shimmers, Lotus is fairly pigmented in comparison to the other shades. I do want to note that due to my lighting, the color is not 100% accurately captured here. It appears dustier in person than in my lip swatches below.

115 Azalea: The boldest of the four, Azalea is sheer fuchsia pink. Although there appear to be some sparkles in the formulation (as is the case with all four of these shades, to some extent), the color is shimmer-free when worn on the lips. Whereas the other shades are all quite natural and perfect for everyday wear, Azalea definitely feels more like a summer color.

Overall, this is a really nice range of sheer lipsticks. If like me, you prefer a comfortable, easy-to-apply lip color for every day, the Shiseido ColorGel LipBalms are definitely worth checking out!
