After falling in love with the Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Mask from Glow Recipe (reviewed here), I knew that I have to delve deeper into the brand by trying a couple of their original creations. Harnessing the soothing, anti-inflammatory properties of watermelon, the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask and Watermelon Glow Pink Juice have graced Sephora's bestseller's list many times. Perfect for those looking for a boost of hydration and glow, the duo is designed for oily, combination skin. I've got a detailed look at the formulation today. Glow Recipe | Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer
Glow Recipe | Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer (C$28 for 25 ml):
With a sweet albeit slightly artificial watermelon scent, the Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer is a lightweight day moisturizer perfect for oily and combination skin. Packed with vitamin-rich watermelon extract that delivers anti-inflammatory properties, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and a handful of other botanical extracts that are high in antioxidants, the moisturizer is free from silicones and drying alcohols. The formulation is very runny and lightweight and it absorbs easily leaving behind a refreshing, non-greasy finish. Even though I have oily, combination skin, I found the moisturizer a bit too light for the wintertime and therefore have been mixing it with a serum or another moisturizer for a boost of protection. However, this is definitely a dream moisturizer for those that struggle with sweat and excess sebum. Come summertime, the Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice will definitely be my go-to!

Glow Recipe | Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask
Glow Recipe | Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask (C$29 for 30 ml):
With a base of water, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin, this is an overnight sleeping mask designed to hydrate, exfoliate, and boost glow. Several key ingredients are added to achieve these benefits and it starts with the vitamin-rich watermelon extract which provides hydration and soothing properties. Additionally, peony root extract and blend of gently exfoliating AHAs (lactic acid and glycolic acid) give a brightening and smoothing effect. A plethora of other botanical extracts (ex. seaweed, pumpkin, pomegranate, banana, licorice, cabbage, and sweet potato) are infused in the sleeping mask for additional nourishing and antioxidant effects.

Glow Recipe | Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask
With a surprisingly runny texture and a slightly artificial watermelon scent, the Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask settles and separates significantly between use so before each application, the mask needs to be mixed vigorously to re-incorporate. This is slightly inconvenient but not a dealbreaker. The mask feels very soothing and hydrating and it doesn't pill or patch when layered with other products. With that said, I don't love the added silicone in the formulation (fifth ingredient), which seems to only serve as a filler ingredient. The mask is very lightweight and the finish is non-greasy and non-tacky. For those with dry to very dry skin, I don't think it will provide enough nourishment. However, on my oily, combination skin, I get the right amount of hydration that's breathable and comfortable. I do see some subtle brightening, smoothing effect but I don't think the AHA level is very high here so if you are looking for a stronger chemical exfoliation, the mask will not be enough. Overall, I think this is a lovely lightweight sleeping mask that provides a moderate amount of hydration and glow. I would definitely recommend it to those with normal to oily skin!
